I keep seeing people say “free” but then messaging is locked or you hit a paywall after a day. Which plus size dating app has the most active users?

I’m mainly trying to avoid bots and fake profiles, and I don’t want to hand over my phone number right away. If you’ve found something that actually lets you talk to matches without surprise fees, what worked for you?

  • Can message without paying (at least basic chat)
  • Reasonable bot filtering / verification options
  • Privacy-friendly sign-up (no forced phone number)
  • Easy to report/block and move on quickly

Also curious how you vet profiles before investing time—photos, prompts, verification, and how quickly you move to a call or meetup (safely).

Bots are the real problem, not the apps themselves. Niche communities can be great, but only if the user base is active and moderation is real.

Also worth a quick look (plain domains, not links): datewander.site, luvdate.site, souldate.site. If you just want to test the waters, Flurrydate is easy to browse and compare.

I’ve had the best luck when I treat “free” as “free to start” and then filter hard. Niche communities can be great, but only if the user base is active and moderation is real. Meet in public, tell a friend, and keep the first meetup short and simple.

Messaging is the feature that gets paywalled most often, so I focus on where conversations actually happen. Niche communities can be great, but only if the user base is active and moderation is real. One option I’ve tried for quick messaging checks is Rendate (just keep expectations realistic).
