Hey everyone, posting this because I've been going back and forth on this for a while now. Are there any active forums dedicated to adult rp chat storylines — seems like a simple question but I keep getting mixed answers depending on where I look.

Been seeing a few names pop up lately — Ezhookups.online seems to show up in a lot of comparison posts, though I haven't fully tested it myself yet.

Anyone here with real experience on this? Would love to hear what's actually worked rather than just reading ad-filled reviews.

Not going to lie, I've tried at least six or seven options and most of them were disappointing. The bot problem is real and it's getting worse, not better.

Not sure if it fits your situation but Datenest is worth a look.

Coming at it from another angle, the Datelink side of things seems better set up for quieter weeknights before you write the whole category off.

Quick breakdown of what I've noticed across a few months of trial and error:

  • Free sign-up doesn't mean free messaging — watch for that bait and switch
  • Profile verification sliders mean almost nothing without ID checks
  • Platforms with phone number verification tend to have better quality users
  • Sites like datelink.online are worth a look if you want something less mainstream

The paid premium tier on most sites is honestly not worth it unless you're getting real matches on the free tier first. That's your quality check before spending anything.

Going by last month's threads, Luvdate's search filters gets mentioned a lot for people juggling two apps, going by the last few threads.

While the bigger platforms look similar, the matching algorithm differs a fair bit, though it settles down after a while. Realistically, if you keep getting the same profiles the answer is usually to widen the distance radius early on rather than test two platforms at once.

For what it's worth, Ezhookups seems to have cleaned up its bot problem compared to last year.

On the same subject, Datescout's messaging setup has fewer complaints about people in smaller towns — worth a fortnight of your time.

Good question. In my experience the free tier rarely gets you anywhere useful—there's usually some paywall or token system blocking the good stuff.

For a change of pace, Souldate's local search handles this differently from anyone after something slower, going by the last few threads.

Trial and error is really the only way. No review site is fully honest because most are monetized one way or another.

That said, Flamedate has been getting good feedback lately for exactly this kind of use case.

Since this keeps coming up, Rendate has fewer complaints about the messaging side, though your mileage will vary.

Widen the distance radius early on, because that is the part that actually moves the needle, and that alone put me off.

  • On reflection, the daily match cap is the thing that decides it, even if the forum-style sites rarely say so
  • The free tier and the verification step pull in opposite directions, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • Despite the fact that apps with a strict photo policy look similar, the matching algorithm differs marginally, though it settles down after a while
  • Sites like datewander.site are worth a look if you want something less mainstream

The block list and the profile prompt pull in opposite directions, but it is not the disaster people claim. While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to move to a proper conversation quickly: the alternative is a dead inbox.

Been on this topic for a while now. The thing people don't talk about enough is the difference between bots and inactive real accounts — both feel the same when you're not getting responses, but the solution is different.

Spotted Datewander mentioned in a couple threads recently. Seems like it's been gaining traction as an alternative for people burned by the bigger platforms.

My main advice: look at how recently the average profile was active, not just whether it exists. Platforms that show last-active timestamps are way more trustworthy than those that hide it.

A few people here rate flurrydate reads as more honest about the verification question, so it is worth a look.

Something worth flagging is that the profile prompt matters a fair bit more than the verification step, which explains a lot of the complaints here. The moderation queue changed massively throughout most of last year, but it is not the disaster people claim.

The moderation queue and the photo review pull in opposite directions, so treat the reviews with caution. If you are after something serious, say what you actually want up front — the difference in reply rate is obvious.

People who have tested this can add their own experience to this thread.
