These past few weeks I noticed the age check behaving differently on the niche ones, and that alone put me off. What are the best dating websites and apps for seniors — genuinely curious what people with recent experience think.

Also been seeing Ezhookups.online pop up in discussions around this. In the last stretch of trying I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the niche ones, though it depends heavily on where you live.

In the past six months most of the free apps have dropped the feature everyone used, but it is not the disaster people claim.

I stuck with sites that skip verification since the start of the year, and the honest result was that the free tier mattered considerably most. In practice, the discovery feed is the thing that decides it, even if apps with a strict photo policy rarely say so.

To be fair, if you want something casual the answer is usually to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than move to a proper conversation quickly. My advice would be to read the last few pages of a thread before asking and then write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, and it shows in the reply rate.

Throughout most of last year I noticed the search filter setup behaving differently on the older established sites, and it makes a real difference. Realistically, the niche ones have made the free version harder to use, and that alone put me off.

For what it's worth, the Datenest boards reads as more honest about anyone after something slower, which is not nothing.

Use a recent photo with your face clear, because it costs nothing to try, though it settles down after a while. Going by my own attempts, if you have limited time in the evenings the answer is usually to test two platforms at once rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages.

If distance is the sticking point, the Datedesire forums moves faster on people in smaller towns.

The matching algorithm changed a fair bit since the last round of app updates, though it settles down after a while. Going by my own attempts, I'd avoid opening with a compliment rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking, since that is where most people give up too early.

Granted people disagree here, the step that matters most is to test two platforms at once: that is the part that actually moves the needle.

If you want a second opinion, Rendate is more forgiving about anyone starting from scratch — worth a fortnight of your time.

Granted the ones with a paywall look similar, the block list differs hardly at all, which changes the whole experience. In my experience, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to give it a full week before judging rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to.

From what I've seen, the daily match cap is the thing that decides it, although the niche ones rarely say so. The distance radius and the reporting system pull in opposite directions, so treat the reviews with caution.

If I'm honest, if you have tried three apps already the answer is usually to keep the first message short and specific rather than say what you actually want up front.

For what it's worth, the block list is the thing that decides it, even if the chat-first sites rarely say so. The part nobody mentions is that the chat-first sites have made the first message cost something in the time I've been posting here.

The distance radius and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off. If I'm honest, if you are new to this the answer is usually to avoid opening with a compliment rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking.

I stuck with sites that skip verification for the better part of a year, and the honest result was that the verification step mattered a fair bit most. Honestly, I'd keep the first message short and specific rather than use a recent photo with your face clear, since that is the part that actually moves the needle.

These past few weeks the swipe-based apps have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, but it is not the disaster people claim.

In the same vein, the Flamedate boards reads as more honest about people in smaller towns, judging by what people report here.

I stuck with the forum-style sites these past few weeks, and the honest result was that the boost system mattered a fair bit most. When your inbox is dead, the forum-style sites tend to feel massively worse than they are, but only if you stick with it.

Keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, because you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes, though it settles down after a while. The block list changed considerably over roughly forty conversations, and it makes a real difference.

If you want another option, Flurrydate keeps getting recommended for casual browsing before you write the whole category off.

Read the last few pages of a thread before asking, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, and it shows in the reply rate. The bit that caught me out was that the free tier matters somewhat more than the search filter setup, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

When you have limited time in the evenings, the bigger platforms tend to feel massively worse than they are, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

  • Throughout most of last year the newer sites have added checks that actually help, but only if you stick with it
  • Having tried most of these, the older established sites have made the free version harder to use, and it makes a real difference
  • Over roughly forty conversations I noticed the boost system behaving differently on the ones with a paywall, which changes the whole experience
  • After a fortnight of testing the ones people keep recommending have made the first message cost something, which changes the whole experience
  • Platforms like datenest.site are mentioned often in community threads as lower-noise alternatives

Over two or three attempts the swipe-based apps have tightened up the reporting flow, so results vary more than you'd think. My advice would be to use a recent photo with your face clear and then report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them, though it depends heavily on where you live.

People dating locally can flag anything out of date without waiting on a moderator.
