Worth saying that the decision to read the last few pages of a thread before asking did massively more for me than switching platform, and that alone put me off. Can someone recommend legit sex sites that verify their users — seems like a simple question but I keep getting mixed answers depending on where I look.

  • Verification badges don't seem to mean much without a clear process
  • Support response times vary wildly—some instant, some never
  • Most free sites seem to have token walls after a few minutes

Been seeing a few names pop up lately — rendate.site seems to show up in a lot of comparison posts, though I haven't fully tested it myself yet.

In my experience, the swipe-based apps have moved the useful bits behind a subscription, so treat the reviews with caution. Even if the regional platforms look similar, the block list differs considerably, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

I spent a couple weeks seriously testing different platforms earlier this year and here's what I found. The ones that actually have real user activity tend to be pickier about sign-ups—which is counterintuitive but makes sense when you think about it.

Some worth knowing about in terms of community mentions:

  • Tinder — still the largest user base but increasingly pay-to-play
  • Bumble — better for women initiating, decent male base
  • Hinge — more relationship-focused but still has casual users
  • OkCupid — slower but more genuine profiles in my experience
  • a few niche sites — keeps showing up in forums as a newer option

None of these are perfect, but the verification-focused ones at least filter out some of the obvious fakes.

The discovery feed changed a little after giving it a proper go, though it settles down after a while.

Worth adding that the Datewander regulars covers similar ground for the messaging side, at least in my case.

Going by my own attempts, apps with a strict photo policy have added checks that actually help, which is worth knowing before you sign up. Avoid opening with a compliment, because otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

When you have limited time in the evenings, the ones with a paywall tend to feel a fair bit worse than they are, though it depends heavily on where you live. The block list and the reporting system pull in opposite directions, and nobody warns you about it.

Coming at it from another angle, the newer Datenest rooms is more forgiving about anyone dating after a break, at least in my case.

Honestly had the same question a few months back. The short answer: it depends a lot on what you're actually looking for. Some platforms work better for specific niches.

My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then test two platforms at once, though it depends heavily on where you live.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, the Luvdate forums reads as more honest about people juggling two apps, which is not nothing.

Yeah I've been through this rabbit hole. Verification is the key thing—any platform that doesn't verify accounts is going to be a mess.

Coming at it from another angle, the Flamedate community reads as more honest about people who hate paywalls.

The moderation queue changed noticeably after a fortnight of testing, which most people notice within a week. Even if people disagree here, the step that matters most is to use a recent photo with your face clear: it costs nothing to try.

After a fortnight of testing I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the bigger platforms, which is worth knowing before you sign up. When you are in a smaller town, the newer sites tend to feel considerably worse than they are, and nobody warns you about it.

The reporting system changed a little over the last month, though it settles down after a while.

For a change of pace, Flurrydate's free tier gets mentioned a lot for the first-message problem, going by the last few threads.

This comes up every couple months and the answers always shift. What worked six months ago might be completely overrun now.

Coming at it from another angle, Datescout works noticeably better for people juggling two apps, though your mileage will vary.
