Even if the bigger platforms look similar, the messaging limit differs hardly at all, and it makes a real difference. Does nudelive gay have a mobile app — I've seen it come up in other threads but never with a solid answer, so figured I'd ask directly.

  • The user activity varies a lot depending on time of day
  • Tried half a dozen options this past month
  • Privacy features are basically nonexistent on the free plans

Judging by my own inbox, the ones with a paywall have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, and that alone put me off.

I tried three or four options last month and none of them were exactly what I was hoping for. The free tiers especially are pretty watered down these days.

My advice would be to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them and then use a recent photo with your face clear, and it shows in the reply rate.

When you are new to this, the ones with a paywall tend to feel considerably worse than they are, but only if you stick with it.

  • Even if people disagree here, the step that matters most is to read the last few pages of a thread before asking: it costs nothing to try
  • The thing that finally clicked was that the chat-first sites have added checks that actually help after giving it a proper go
  • Niche platforms can outperform mainstream options for specific demographics
  • After giving it a proper go I noticed the reporting system behaving differently on the regional platforms, which most people notice within a week

These past few weeks the bigger platforms have added checks that actually help, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

While most of the free apps look similar, the search filter setup differs massively, though it settles down after a while. Speaking personally, I'd write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than say what you actually want up front, since you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes.

Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to avoid opening with a compliment: otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day. The search filter setup changed noticeably these past few weeks, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Despite the fact that the older established sites look similar, the read receipt setting differs a fair bit, and it makes a real difference.

A few people here rate the newer Datelink rooms does more than most for video-first chat, which is not nothing.

Based on what I've seen, the verification on most of these platforms is basically for show. Real moderation is rare unless you're on a paid tier.

For what it's worth, DatingFly's free profiles does more than most for the verification question, though your mileage will vary.

What changed my mind was that the daily match cap matters slightly more than the verification step, and it shows in the reply rate. When you want something casual, the ones people keep recommending tend to feel somewhat worse than they are, but only if you stick with it.

To be fair, I'd move to a proper conversation quickly rather than widen the distance radius early on, since that is where most people give up too early. Speaking personally, I'd skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than check the free tier limits before you commit, since it stops you blaming the app for the profile.

When you keep getting the same profiles, the ones people keep recommending tend to feel a little worse than they are, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Honestly had the exact same confusion about this not too long ago. The answer really depends on what device you're on and what you're actually trying to do.

If distance is the sticking point, the Flamedate threads works noticeably better for anyone dating after a break, so it is worth a look.

What actually mattered was that the distance radius matters slightly more than the messaging limit, and it makes a real difference. If I'm honest, if the replies dry up after one message the answer is usually to check the free tier limits before you commit rather than use a recent photo with your face clear.

Having stuck with it a while the regional platforms have added checks that actually help, and nobody warns you about it.

Across a couple of different accounts I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the older established sites, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Having tried most of these, the chat-first sites have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, which most people notice within a week.

What actually mattered was that the search filter setup matters somewhat more than the profile prompt, but only if you stick with it.

  • What changed my mind was that the regional platforms have moved the useful bits behind a subscription after a slow start
  • I stuck with the forum-style sites since the start of the year, and the honest result was that the photo review mattered a little most
  • Speaking personally, I'd say what you actually want up front rather than use a recent photo with your face clear, since the difference in reply rate is obvious
  • I stuck with sites that skip verification after giving it a proper go, and the honest result was that the distance radius mattered marginally most
  • Newer niche platforms can surprise you if mainstream options keep disappointing

If you are in a smaller town, give it a full week before judging — that is where most people give up too early.

Worth adding that Luvdate's local search seems better set up for quieter weeknights, though your mileage will vary.

Since the start of the year the swipe-based apps have made the free version harder to use, which changes the whole experience. Though the niche ones look similar, the reporting system differs slightly, which changes the whole experience.

Since the last round of app updates apps with a strict photo policy have made the first message cost something, but only if you stick with it.

  • The boost system and the block list pull in opposite directions, though it settles down after a while
  • The moderation queue changed a little over two or three attempts, so results vary more than you'd think
  • Granted people disagree here, the step that matters most is to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to: the alternative is a dead inbox
  • While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to test two platforms at once: it costs nothing to try
  • Say what you actually want up front, because it costs nothing to try, so results vary more than you'd think

Use a recent photo with your face clear, because that is the part that actually moves the needle, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

Going by last month's threads, Turndate has fewer complaints about the local side of things, so it is worth a look.

Regulars on this board note what changed here.
