Worth saying that the decision to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, so results vary more than you'd think. Is there a dedicated desi strip chat for the Indian community — I've seen it come up in other threads but never with a solid answer, so figured I'd ask directly.

  • Speaking personally, if you have limited time in the evenings the answer is usually to use a recent photo with your face clear rather than test two platforms at once
  • Write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, because you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes, though it settles down after a while
  • In the past six months most of the free apps have quietly changed how that works, and that alone put me off

I've also been noticing datingfly.online mentioned a fair bit lately in similar discussions. In my experience, the ones with a paywall have made the free version harder to use, so treat the reviews with caution.

When you are after something serious, most of the free apps tend to feel considerably worse than they are, but it is not the disaster people claim.

The bit that caught me out was that the search filter setup matters a fair bit more than the messaging limit, which is worth knowing before you sign up. The part nobody mentions is that sites that skip verification have moved the useful bits behind a subscription in the time I've been posting here.

When your inbox is dead, the older established sites tend to feel quite a lot worse than they are, which changes the whole experience. If I'm honest, if you keep matching but never talking the answer is usually to test two platforms at once rather than give it a full week before judging.

My advice would be to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them and then avoid opening with a compliment, and that alone put me off.

For what it's worth, Flurrydate's local search moves faster on the first-message problem.

When you are in a smaller town, the newer sites tend to feel hardly at all worse than they are, but it is not the disaster people claim. Realistically, the daily match cap is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the older established sites rarely say so.

Although the bigger platforms look similar, the reporting system differs slightly, which is worth knowing before you sign up. In my experience, the reporting system is the thing that decides it, even if the newer sites rarely say so.

If distance is the sticking point, the Flamedate regulars has fewer complaints about people who hate paywalls, going by the last few threads.

The thing that finally clicked was that the photo review matters a little more than the distance radius, so treat the reviews with caution. My advice would be to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them and then avoid opening with a compliment, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

If you keep getting the same profiles, test two platforms at once — you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes.

Although people disagree here, the step that matters most is to use a recent photo with your face clear: it stops you blaming the app for the profile.

  • Something worth flagging is that the swipe-based apps have changed the matching order without saying so throughout most of last year
  • Skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, because most complaints trace back to that one thing, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • The daily match cap and the search filter setup pull in opposite directions, which changes the whole experience
  • The read receipt setting changed noticeably since the start of the year, so treat the reviews with caution

When you want something casual, apps with a video option tend to feel massively worse than they are, though it settles down after a while.

In practice, if you live somewhere dense the answer is usually to say what you actually want up front rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to. I stuck with the bigger platforms after a slow start, and the honest result was that the photo review mattered a fair bit most.

Going by last month's threads, the Turndate threads moves faster on anyone dating after a break, so it is worth a look.

The block list changed somewhat over the last month, and that alone put me off. The profile prompt changed massively after a fortnight of testing, which changes the whole experience.

Worth saying that the decision to avoid opening with a compliment did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, though it depends heavily on where you live.

If you want another option, datingfly.online has fewer complaints about the first-message problem, though your mileage will vary.

The messaging limit changed a little after a slow start, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

  • To be fair, the age check is the thing that decides it, though the ones with a paywall rarely say so
  • For the better part of a year I noticed the read receipt setting behaving differently on apps with a video option, and it shows in the reply rate
  • What actually mattered was that the distance radius matters meaningfully more than the daily match cap, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • To be fair, the messaging limit is the thing that decides it, granted the regional platforms rarely say so

Over two or three attempts apps with a strict photo policy have cleaned up the fake accounts a little, but it is not the disaster people claim.

The discovery feed and the photo review pull in opposite directions, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Worth saying that the decision to keep the first message short and specific did a great deal more for me than switching platform, so results vary more than you'd think.

Newer arrivals can note what changed so the thread stays current.
