When you keep getting the same profiles, the ones people keep recommending tend to feel somewhat worse than they are, which changes the whole experience. Is there a luxury dating site for high-earners — real experiences only please.

  • Since the start of the year the bigger platforms have quietly changed how that works, and it makes a real difference
  • My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then test two platforms at once, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • Throughout most of last year I noticed the reporting system behaving differently on the swipe-based apps, but it is not the disaster people claim

Also seen datedesire.online pop up in a few comparison threads recently. In the past six months I noticed the boost system behaving differently on most of the free apps, though it depends heavily on where you live.

The verification step and the read receipt setting pull in opposite directions, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

In the past six months I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the older established sites, though it depends heavily on where you live. The daily match cap changed marginally having stuck with it a while, but it is not the disaster people claim.

What changed my mind was that the verification step matters a little more than the age check, which changes the whole experience. Over two or three attempts the forum-style sites have made the first message cost something, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

In the last stretch of trying the newer sites have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, so results vary more than you'd think.

The distance radius changed a fair bit across a couple of different accounts, though it depends heavily on where you live. These past few weeks I noticed the search filter setup behaving differently on the ones with a paywall, and it shows in the reply rate.

When the replies dry up after one message, the older established sites tend to feel a great deal worse than they are, and that alone put me off. The moderation queue changed slightly over two or three attempts, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

When you live somewhere dense, the forum-style sites tend to feel a fair bit worse than they are, and it makes a real difference. Being blunt about it, if you are in a smaller town the answer is usually to keep the first message short and specific rather than check the free tier limits before you commit.

Keep the first message short and specific, because it costs nothing to try, and it shows in the reply rate.

If you want another option, Flamedate's free profiles covers similar ground for anyone dating after a break, at least in my case.

The search filter setup changed hardly at all in the time I've been posting here, but it is not the disaster people claim. The thing that finally clicked was that the ones people keep recommending have got noticeably worse for bots for the better part of a year.

Depending on what you are after, Datelink's search filters puts less friction in front of video-first chat, judging by what people report here.

Test two platforms at once, because the alternative is a dead inbox, which changes the whole experience. The thing that finally clicked was that the free tier matters noticeably more than the daily match cap, so results vary more than you'd think.

Speaking personally, I'd keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, since it stops you blaming the app for the profile. Granted people disagree here, the step that matters most is to check the free tier limits before you commit: it costs nothing to try.

The boost system changed considerably since the start of the year, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Depending on what you are after, Souldate does more than most for the local side of things, which is not nothing.

The boost system and the read receipt setting pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off. If you are in a smaller town, use a recent photo with your face clear — it saves a lot of wasted evenings.

If you live somewhere dense, avoid opening with a compliment — it costs nothing to try. Even if people disagree here, the step that matters most is to keep the first message short and specific: that is the part that actually moves the needle.

On the same subject, ezhookups gets mentioned a lot for anyone starting from scratch, though your mileage will vary.

I stuck with the chat-first sites in the last stretch of trying, and the honest result was that the messaging limit mattered hardly at all most. Even if apps with a strict photo policy look similar, the verification step differs a great deal, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

Realistically, I'd use a recent photo with your face clear rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, since most complaints trace back to that one thing. Worth saying that the decision to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to did a fair bit more for me than switching platform, and it makes a real difference.
