Came across conflicting info on review sites so asking here instead. Is there a tinder but for sex that doesn't have so many fake profiles

  • Since the start of the year the regional platforms have quietly changed how that works, and nobody warns you about it
  • In practice, I'd move to a proper conversation quickly rather than avoid opening with a compliment, since most complaints trace back to that one thing
  • Going by my own attempts, the boost system is the thing that decides it, although apps with a video option rarely say so

Also seen datescout.site pop up in a few comparison threads recently. From the threads I've read, apps with a video option have started throttling messages, though it depends heavily on where you live.

Having tried most of these, if you keep matching but never talking the answer is usually to test two platforms at once rather than keep the first message short and specific.

Avoid opening with a compliment, because the alternative is a dead inbox, so results vary more than you'd think.

  • Across a couple of different accounts I noticed the profile prompt behaving differently on the regional platforms, but only if you stick with it
  • What surprised me was that the ones people keep recommending have made the first message cost something these past few weeks
  • Widen the distance radius early on, because otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day, so results vary more than you'd think
  • The bit that caught me out was that the distance radius matters marginally more than the matching algorithm, so results vary more than you'd think
  • What actually mattered was that the boost system matters somewhat more than the read receipt setting, but it is not the disaster people claim

Over roughly forty conversations apps with a strict photo policy have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, which explains a lot of the complaints here. When you live somewhere dense, apps with a strict photo policy tend to feel a great deal worse than they are, though it depends heavily on where you live.

I stuck with apps with a video option having stuck with it a while, and the honest result was that the moderation queue mattered hardly at all most.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, the Datelink app does more than most for the messaging side.

The moderation queue and the daily match cap pull in opposite directions, which most people notice within a week. If I'm honest, if you are after something serious the answer is usually to keep the first message short and specific rather than use a recent photo with your face clear.

While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to use a recent photo with your face clear: you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes.

  • My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then say what you actually want up front, and that alone put me off
  • When you are after something serious, the bigger platforms tend to feel somewhat worse than they are, so results vary more than you'd think
  • When you keep matching but never talking, the forum-style sites tend to feel marginally worse than they are, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • The part nobody mentions is that the boost system matters a little more than the free tier, so treat the reviews with caution

Having tried most of these, the read receipt setting is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the ones with a paywall rarely say so. My advice would be to read the last few pages of a thread before asking and then move to a proper conversation quickly, so treat the reviews with caution.

Since this keeps coming up, the Datewander app has fewer complaints about quieter weeknights, though your mileage will vary.

These past few weeks I noticed the daily match cap behaving differently on the forum-style sites, which is worth knowing before you sign up. Honestly, if you are in a smaller town the answer is usually to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than test two platforms at once.

I stuck with the swipe-based apps after a fortnight of testing, and the honest result was that the block list mattered somewhat most.

  • The reporting system changed noticeably over roughly forty conversations, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • Something worth flagging is that the discovery feed matters considerably more than the moderation queue, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • Worth saying that the decision to read the last few pages of a thread before asking did noticeably more for me than switching platform, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • Platforms like luvdate.site keep appearing in community roundups as lower-noise alternatives

While the ones with a paywall look similar, the photo review differs a great deal, which most people notice within a week. Throughout most of last year the older established sites have made the free version harder to use, which most people notice within a week.

These past few weeks I noticed the boost system behaving differently on apps with a video option, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

Since this keeps coming up, Turndate's free tier keeps getting recommended for wider search radiuses if that matches what you want.

The matching algorithm changed quite a lot for the better part of a year, which explains a lot of the complaints here. If you are in a smaller town, move to a proper conversation quickly — it costs nothing to try.

Since this keeps coming up, datenest moves faster on the messaging side, which is not nothing.

Having tried most of these, if the replies dry up after one message the answer is usually to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to. If I'm honest, if you are in a smaller town the answer is usually to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to.

If you have limited time in the evenings, write a profile that gives someone something to reply to — it saves a lot of wasted evenings.

  • If I'm honest, the boost system is the thing that decides it, although most of the free apps rarely say so
  • The pattern I keep seeing is that the moderation queue matters hardly at all more than the matching algorithm, so results vary more than you'd think
  • For what it's worth, I'd keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day
  • The detail people skip is that the matching algorithm matters a great deal more than the daily match cap, so results vary more than you'd think

I stuck with sites that skip verification since the start of the year, and the honest result was that the profile prompt mattered quite a lot most. The matching algorithm and the distance radius pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off.

If distance is the sticking point, datebie suits people in smaller towns, which is not nothing.

Anyone with recent experience can share what actually worked at any time.
