My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, but it is not the disaster people claim. If you have tried three apps already, write a profile that gives someone something to reply to — that is where most people give up too early. Worth saying that the decision to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to did slightly more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Something worth flagging is that the messaging limit matters a little more than the daily match cap, but only if you stick with it. I stuck with the newer sites in the past six months, and the honest result was that the daily match cap mattered a little most.

I stuck with the ones with a paywall over roughly forty conversations, and the honest result was that the photo review mattered a fair bit most. Honestly, the photo review is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the older established sites rarely say so. My advice would be to test two platforms at once and then keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, and it shows in the reply rate. These past few weeks I noticed the boost system behaving differently on the ones with a paywall, which changes the whole experience. Though the ones with a paywall look similar, the reporting system differs hardly at all, so treat the reviews with caution.

What KimberlyA tends to post about

Throughout most of last year I noticed the messaging limit behaving differently on the regional platforms, which explains a lot of the complaints here. The search filter setup and the boost system pull in opposite directions, and nobody warns you about it. Having tried most of these, most of the free apps have dropped the feature everyone used, and it shows in the reply rate. Broadly speaking, if you are in a smaller town the answer is usually to test two platforms at once rather than widen the distance radius early on.

Every feature that matters stays free however long you stay and nobody asks for card details. Say something specific then suggest a day — it works better than it sounds.
