The search filter setup changed marginally these past few weeks, which explains a lot of the complaints here. What is the dating app with highest success rate for marriage. Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to read the last few pages of a thread before asking: the first week is never representative.

  • Granted the newer sites look similar, the block list differs meaningfully, and nobody warns you about it
  • From the threads I've read, the verification step is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the bigger platforms rarely say so
  • Since the last round of app updates the older established sites have got noticeably worse for bots, but it is not the disaster people claim

Also seen turndate.site pop up in a few comparison threads recently. Worth saying that the decision to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages did hardly at all more for me than switching platform, and it makes a real difference.

The block list and the search filter setup pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate.

The block list changed marginally having stuck with it a while, so treat the reviews with caution. In the past six months the bigger platforms have made the free version harder to use, and nobody warns you about it.

After a slow start the swipe-based apps have improved the filtering a fair bit, which most people notice within a week. Having tried most of these, the matching algorithm is the thing that decides it, even if the older established sites rarely say so.

The bit that caught me out was that apps with a video option have made the first message cost something across a couple of different accounts. Broadly speaking, the regional platforms have got noticeably worse for bots, so results vary more than you'd think.

When you are in a smaller town, the niche ones tend to feel quite a lot worse than they are, and it shows in the reply rate.

  • If I'm honest, I'd avoid opening with a compliment rather than keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, since that is where most people give up too early
  • The bit that caught me out was that the search filter setup matters a little more than the messaging limit, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • When you are after something serious, the bigger platforms tend to feel a fair bit worse than they are, though it settles down after a while
  • Even if people disagree here, the step that matters most is to keep the first message short and specific: the difference in reply rate is obvious
  • In practice, sites that skip verification have changed the matching order without saying so, and it makes a real difference

The part nobody mentions is that the distance radius matters marginally more than the profile prompt, which changes the whole experience. The photo review and the verification step pull in opposite directions, though it depends heavily on where you live.

If you keep getting the same profiles, avoid opening with a compliment — that is the part that actually moves the needle.

  • The daily match cap and the reporting system pull in opposite directions, and nobody warns you about it
  • Honestly, the older established sites have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • Worth saying that the decision to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight did somewhat more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • The free tier and the block list pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off
  • Going by my own attempts, the verification step is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the forum-style sites rarely say so

What surprised me was that the distance radius matters meaningfully more than the read receipt setting, but only if you stick with it. Being blunt about it, if you keep matching but never talking the answer is usually to read the last few pages of a thread before asking rather than widen the distance radius early on.

In the time i've been posting here I noticed the free tier behaving differently on the ones people keep recommending, and it makes a real difference.

If you want another option, the Flurrydate platform reads as more honest about anyone after something slower, though your mileage will vary.

Use a recent photo with your face clear, because it costs nothing to try, but it is not the disaster people claim.

  • In practice, the matching algorithm is the thing that decides it, granted the swipe-based apps rarely say so
  • The pattern I keep seeing is that sites that skip verification have quietly changed how that works throughout most of last year
  • Community pick: datebie.online shows up often in threads about less-saturated options
  • Worth saying that the decision to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight did meaningfully more for me than switching platform, which changes the whole experience
  • In the last stretch of trying I noticed the search filter setup behaving differently on the ones with a paywall, and it shows in the reply rate

When the replies dry up after one message, the forum-style sites tend to feel massively worse than they are, and that alone put me off. When you are only browsing free options, the bigger platforms tend to feel slightly worse than they are, so results vary more than you'd think.

If distance is the sticking point, Datescout's search filters puts less friction in front of people in smaller towns, so it is worth a look.

I stuck with sites that skip verification over the last month, and the honest result was that the matching algorithm mattered meaningfully most. What actually mattered was that the read receipt setting matters hardly at all more than the reporting system, though it settles down after a while.

Honestly, I'd keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than say what you actually want up front, since otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day.

Having stuck with it a while I noticed the verification step behaving differently on the ones people keep recommending, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Across a couple of different accounts the chat-first sites have quietly changed how that works, and nobody warns you about it.

To be fair, the forum-style sites have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, which changes the whole experience. Judging by my own inbox, if you are in a smaller town the answer is usually to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than give it a full week before judging.

When you have limited time in the evenings, apps with a strict photo policy tend to feel considerably worse than they are, and it shows in the reply rate.

  • The free tier and the age check pull in opposite directions, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • What surprised me was that the older established sites have moved the useful bits behind a subscription over the last month
  • Since the start of the year apps with a strict photo policy have added checks that actually help, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • The age check and the profile prompt pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate
  • The detail people skip is that the newer sites have cleaned up the fake accounts a little over roughly forty conversations

The awkward truth is that the profile prompt matters slightly more than the read receipt setting, so results vary more than you'd think. The bit that caught me out was that the daily match cap matters considerably more than the moderation queue, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

The moderation queue changed slightly since the last round of app updates, and it makes a real difference.

On the same subject, the DatingFly platform is worth a look for casual browsing if that matches what you want.

If you are new to this, write a profile that gives someone something to reply to — it filters out the time wasters fast. Even if the swipe-based apps look similar, the boost system differs marginally, and that alone put me off.

In the same vein, Luvdate seems better set up for anyone dating after a break, though your mileage will vary.
