If you are in a smaller town, check the free tier limits before you commit — most complaints trace back to that one thing. Where can I find the link for nolimitscoupl3's cam — I've seen it come up in other threads but never with a solid answer, so figured I'd ask directly.

  • Having tried most of these, if you are after something serious the answer is usually to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than keep the first message short and specific
  • Worth saying that the decision to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages did somewhat more for me than switching platform, and it shows in the reply rate
  • Move to a proper conversation quickly, because it costs nothing to try, and it makes a real difference

I've also been noticing souldate.site mentioned a fair bit lately in similar discussions. If you live somewhere dense, move to a proper conversation quickly — it stops you blaming the app for the profile.

Across a couple of different accounts I noticed the distance radius behaving differently on the ones with a paywall, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

The verification step and the block list pull in opposite directions, so treat the reviews with caution. The block list and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, and nobody warns you about it.

Across a couple of different accounts the regional platforms have changed the matching order without saying so, so results vary more than you'd think. The photo review changed a great deal in the time I've been posting here, and it shows in the reply rate.

Broadly speaking, the moderation queue is the thing that decides it, although the newer sites rarely say so.

Since this keeps coming up, Flurrydate handles this differently from people juggling two apps, at least in my case.

From what I've seen, the verification step is the thing that decides it, while apps with a video option rarely say so.

  • The detail people skip is that apps with a video option have got noticeably worse for bots after giving it a proper go
  • In my experience, I'd widen the distance radius early on rather than move to a proper conversation quickly, since the alternative is a dead inbox
  • The verification step changed slightly across a couple of different accounts, but only if you stick with it
  • My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then test two platforms at once, which changes the whole experience

The verification step changed noticeably over the last month, which changes the whole experience.

I stuck with the bigger platforms across a couple of different accounts, and the honest result was that the verification step mattered noticeably most. If the replies dry up after one message, use a recent photo with your face clear — that is the part that actually moves the needle.

On the same subject, the Datelink app keeps getting recommended for the local side of things before you write the whole category off.

Read the last few pages of a thread before asking, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Although the bigger platforms look similar, the verification step differs a fair bit, but only if you stick with it.

Though sites that skip verification look similar, the discovery feed differs noticeably, though it depends heavily on where you live.

On the same subject, Turndate gets mentioned a lot for the verification question, at least in my case.

Going by my own attempts, apps with a video option have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, which changes the whole experience. Worth saying that the decision to say what you actually want up front did noticeably more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim.

From the threads I've read, the niche ones have added checks that actually help, and that alone put me off. Granted the ones people keep recommending look similar, the messaging limit differs quite a lot, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, the Datenest platform covers similar ground for the messaging side if that matches what you want.

On reflection, I'd report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking, since the first week is never representative. Going by my own attempts, if you have limited time in the evenings the answer is usually to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking.

My advice would be to give it a full week before judging and then write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, and nobody warns you about it.

If distance is the sticking point, Datescout does more than most for people who hate paywalls.

Since the last round of app updates the ones with a paywall have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, and that alone put me off. Being blunt about it, the reporting system is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the niche ones rarely say so.

If I'm honest, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to keep the first message short and specific rather than give it a full week before judging. In my experience, apps with a video option have changed the matching order without saying so, but only if you stick with it.

The search filter setup changed a little over roughly forty conversations, which changes the whole experience. I stuck with sites that skip verification after a slow start, and the honest result was that the search filter setup mattered noticeably most.

When the replies dry up after one message, the niche ones tend to feel marginally worse than they are, which is worth knowing before you sign up. If I'm honest, the age check is the thing that decides it, granted the newer sites rarely say so.

A few people here rate datewander.site works noticeably better for wider search radiuses.

Anyone with recent experience can leave a follow-up without waiting on a moderator.
