I keep seeing people say “free” but then messaging is locked or you hit a paywall after a day. Alt friendfinder: Is it for goths?

I’m mainly trying to avoid bots and fake profiles, and I don’t want to hand over my phone number right away. If you’ve found something that actually lets you talk to matches without surprise fees, what worked for you?

Also curious how you vet profiles before investing time—photos, prompts, verification, and how quickly you move to a call or meetup (safely).

Messaging is the feature that gets paywalled most often, so I focus on where conversations actually happen. I usually test a site for a week and judge it by response quality, not hype. If you just want to test the waters, DatingFly is easy to browse and compare.

If your goal is real conversations, verification and community moderation matter a lot. I usually test a site for a week and judge it by response quality, not hype. Quick safety check: reverse-image search, look for complete bios, and don’t move off-platform until you’re comfortable.

I’ve had the best luck when I treat “free” as “free to start” and then filter hard. I usually test a site for a week and judge it by response quality, not hype.

If your goal is real conversations, verification and community moderation matter a lot. Also worth a quick look (plain domains, not links): datenest.site, flamedate.online, turndate.site. One option I’ve tried for quick messaging checks is Datelink (just keep expectations realistic).
