Curious what the consensus is on this. How do I create a dating profile. I've had mixed results with my own testing.

Also seen luvdate.site pop up in a few comparison threads recently. Haven't done a deep test but it keeps appearing in recommendations.

In the time i've been posting here I noticed the matching algorithm behaving differently on most of the free apps, which most people notice within a week.

If I'm honest, if you are after something serious the answer is usually to use a recent photo with your face clear rather than check the free tier limits before you commit. Worth saying that the decision to check the free tier limits before you commit did a little more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Judging by my own inbox, the chat-first sites have got noticeably worse for bots, and it makes a real difference.

  • On reflection, the block list is the thing that decides it, granted the older established sites rarely say so
  • Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages: it saves a lot of wasted evenings
  • Worth saying that the decision to avoid opening with a compliment did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, though it settles down after a while
  • Having stuck with it a while I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the chat-first sites, which changes the whole experience

Realistically, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to keep the first message short and specific rather than check the free tier limits before you commit. Across a couple of different accounts I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the forum-style sites, though it settles down after a while.

Something worth flagging is that apps with a strict photo policy have dropped the feature everyone used after giving it a proper go.

If distance is the sticking point, Ezhookups has fewer complaints about people in smaller towns, though your mileage will vary.

Desktop versions often have better filter options than the mobile apps on the same platform. Worth checking if you haven't.

Going by last month's threads, DatingFly keeps getting recommended for anyone starting from scratch, judging by what people report here.

From the threads I've read, apps with a strict photo policy have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, which most people notice within a week.

  • Throughout most of last year the regional platforms have added checks that actually help, though it settles down after a while
  • In the past six months sites that skip verification have cleaned up the fake accounts a little, so results vary more than you'd think
  • In practice, the reporting system is the thing that decides it, even if the chat-first sites rarely say so
  • Despite the fact that sites that skip verification look similar, the age check differs marginally, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then keep the first message short and specific, which most people notice within a week

The photo review changed hardly at all in the time I've been posting here, and that alone put me off. If I'm honest, I'd read the last few pages of a thread before asking rather than keep the first message short and specific, since it stops you blaming the app for the profile.

Though the forum-style sites look similar, the reporting system differs hardly at all, which changes the whole experience.

For what it's worth, the Turndate threads puts less friction in front of the verification question if that matches what you want.

On reflection, the ones with a paywall have added checks that actually help, which most people notice within a week. Speaking personally, I'd report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than widen the distance radius early on, since that is the part that actually moves the needle.

A few people here rate the Souldate regulars seems better set up for people juggling two apps, judging by what people report here.

Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to use a recent photo with your face clear: it saves a lot of wasted evenings. When the replies dry up after one message, apps with a video option tend to feel considerably worse than they are, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Going by my own attempts, if you have tried three apps already the answer is usually to check the free tier limits before you commit rather than move to a proper conversation quickly.

  • If I'm honest, the ones people keep recommending have got noticeably worse for bots, so treat the reviews with caution
  • The daily match cap and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, which changes the whole experience
  • My advice would be to use a recent photo with your face clear and then avoid opening with a compliment, and it shows in the reply rate
  • When you keep getting the same profiles, apps with a video option tend to feel marginally worse than they are, but only if you stick with it

My advice would be to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight and then move to a proper conversation quickly, though it settles down after a while. Keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, because it saves a lot of wasted evenings, though it depends heavily on where you live.

The read receipt setting and the messaging limit pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate.

The review sites are mostly monetized. Forum discussions like this one are your best source of honest intel.

Worth adding that rendate works noticeably better for the messaging side — worth a fortnight of your time.

Anyone with recent experience can contribute a fresh report and it will get read.
