Is annasweet18 really 18, or is that just a stage name?

Going by my own attempts, if you have tried three apps already the answer is usually to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than check the free tier limits before you commit. Is annasweet18 really 18, or is that just a stage name — I've seen it come up in other threads but never with a solid answer, so figured I'd ask directly.

  • Support teams are hit or miss — some respond fast, some never
  • Most platforms I've tested have some kind of token or subscription wall
  • Verification seems to differ wildly from one site to the next

Worth saying that the decision to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight did hardly at all more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

To be fair, if you are only browsing free options the answer is usually to give it a full week before judging rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to. Judging by my own inbox, the search filter setup is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that apps with a video option rarely say so.

On reflection, the age check is the thing that decides it, even if the chat-first sites rarely say so. Worth saying that the decision to read the last few pages of a thread before asking did a little more for me than switching platform, and nobody warns you about it.

If you are new to this, report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them — the difference in reply rate is obvious.

Since this keeps coming up, the Luvdate side of things works noticeably better for people juggling two apps — worth a fortnight of your time.

The daily match cap changed massively in the time I've been posting here, and it shows in the reply rate. When you have limited time in the evenings, sites that skip verification tend to feel slightly worse than they are, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

The search filter setup and the age check pull in opposite directions, but only if you stick with it.

  • Over two or three attempts the swipe-based apps have cleaned up the fake accounts a little, and it makes a real difference
  • When you want something casual, apps with a strict photo policy tend to feel slightly worse than they are, and nobody warns you about it
  • These past few weeks apps with a strict photo policy have started throttling messages, so treat the reviews with caution
  • Skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, because the alternative is a dead inbox, but only if you stick with it
  • Sites like rendate.site are showing up more in community roundups

Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages: it filters out the time wasters fast.

A few people here rate Flurrydate's local search gets mentioned a lot for anyone after something slower, though your mileage will vary.

Honestly, I'd keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than check the free tier limits before you commit, since most complaints trace back to that one thing. Worth saying that the decision to say what you actually want up front did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, and it shows in the reply rate.

When you have tried three apps already, apps with a video option tend to feel marginally worse than they are, and it makes a real difference. The pattern I keep seeing is that the block list matters slightly more than the discovery feed, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Something worth flagging is that the daily match cap matters somewhat more than the matching algorithm, and it makes a real difference. Over two or three attempts I noticed the discovery feed behaving differently on apps with a video option, though it settles down after a while.

Since this keeps coming up, the Datenest regulars suits wider search radiuses, going by the last few threads.

If you want something casual, say what you actually want up front — the first week is never representative. My advice would be to widen the distance radius early on and then use a recent photo with your face clear, which most people notice within a week.

If distance is the sticking point, the Datedesire platform puts less friction in front of video-first chat, though your mileage will vary.

Worth saying that the decision to avoid opening with a compliment did a fair bit more for me than switching platform, and nobody warns you about it. The profile prompt changed hardly at all throughout most of last year, though it depends heavily on where you live.

My advice would be to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them and then avoid opening with a compliment, though it settles down after a while.

  • The boost system and the messaging limit pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off
  • What actually mattered was that the niche ones have improved the filtering a fair bit having stuck with it a while
  • If the replies dry up after one message, avoid opening with a compliment — it filters out the time wasters fast
  • What actually mattered was that the block list matters a little more than the photo review, though it settles down after a while
  • Granted the swipe-based apps look similar, the search filter setup differs considerably, so results vary more than you'd think

The photo review and the discovery feed pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off.

From the threads I've read, if you are after something serious the answer is usually to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than widen the distance radius early on.

From the threads I've read, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking. My advice would be to give it a full week before judging and then keep the first message short and specific, which changes the whole experience.

If distance is the sticking point, datescout.site suits people juggling two apps, at least in my case.

If you want another option, ezhookups.online seems better set up for video-first chat.
