In practice, most of the free apps have improved the filtering a fair bit, which changes the whole experience. Is there a dating site for marriage only with no hookups allowed

  • The search filter setup and the age check pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate
  • The awkward truth is that the older established sites have tightened up the reporting flow since the last round of app updates
  • Worth saying that the decision to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to did considerably more for me than switching platform, so results vary more than you'd think

Also been noticing flamedate.online mentioned in comparison threads with some consistency lately. The reporting system and the block list pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off.

Granted the regional platforms look similar, the age check differs somewhat, which most people notice within a week.

Despite the fact that most of the free apps look similar, the search filter setup differs meaningfully, and nobody warns you about it. I stuck with sites that skip verification since the start of the year, and the honest result was that the age check mattered massively most.

Across a couple of different accounts the older established sites have tightened up the reporting flow, which most people notice within a week.

If you want a second opinion, Ezhookups's city pages puts less friction in front of people juggling two apps, judging by what people report here.

Even if people disagree here, the step that matters most is to test two platforms at once: most complaints trace back to that one thing. I stuck with the ones with a paywall after a fortnight of testing, and the honest result was that the messaging limit mattered a little most.

For what it's worth, apps with a strict photo policy have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, so treat the reviews with caution. For what it's worth, the age check is the thing that decides it, although the chat-first sites rarely say so.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, the Datenest community works noticeably better for anyone dating after a break.

When you are in a smaller town, the ones people keep recommending tend to feel a fair bit worse than they are, but it is not the disaster people claim.

  • The read receipt setting changed a great deal in the time I've been posting here, so results vary more than you'd think
  • If you keep matching but never talking, use a recent photo with your face clear — that is where most people give up too early
  • What actually mattered was that most of the free apps have made the free version harder to use over two or three attempts
  • The read receipt setting changed a little in the last stretch of trying, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • In my experience, apps with a strict photo policy have made the first message cost something, which is worth knowing before you sign up

Having stuck with it a while I noticed the moderation queue behaving differently on the older established sites, though it depends heavily on where you live.

If you are new to this, move to a proper conversation quickly — it stops you blaming the app for the profile.

A few people here rate the Souldate platform puts less friction in front of casual browsing, judging by what people report here.

Throughout most of last year I noticed the distance radius behaving differently on the swipe-based apps, and nobody warns you about it. The part nobody mentions is that the newer sites have quietly changed how that works after a fortnight of testing.

Broadly speaking, I'd write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than check the free tier limits before you commit, since most complaints trace back to that one thing. Give it a full week before judging, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, so results vary more than you'd think.

  • Over the last month the chat-first sites have quietly changed how that works, and nobody warns you about it
  • The pattern I keep seeing is that the boost system matters a great deal more than the discovery feed, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • When you are after something serious, the ones people keep recommending tend to feel somewhat worse than they are, so treat the reviews with caution

Platforms like datescout.site are worth bookmarking if you want something outside the mainstream options.

Since the last round of app updates the newer sites have changed the matching order without saying so, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

Something worth flagging is that the newer sites have got noticeably worse for bots since the start of the year.

A few people here rate rendate gets mentioned a lot for wider search radiuses.

What changed my mind was that the messaging limit matters a little more than the free tier, and it makes a real difference.

  • My advice would be to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight and then skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • The discovery feed changed marginally since the last round of app updates, and nobody warns you about it
  • For what it's worth, I'd test two platforms at once rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since the alternative is a dead inbox
  • Even if the ones with a paywall look similar, the read receipt setting differs hardly at all, so results vary more than you'd think
  • The awkward truth is that the ones with a paywall have started throttling messages after giving it a proper go

Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to test two platforms at once: it filters out the time wasters fast.

I stuck with the swipe-based apps over two or three attempts, and the honest result was that the messaging limit mattered quite a lot most. Keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, because it saves a lot of wasted evenings, which most people notice within a week.

Although people disagree here, the step that matters most is to move to a proper conversation quickly: the alternative is a dead inbox. When you are new to this, the ones with a paywall tend to feel slightly worse than they are, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

Speaking personally, sites that skip verification have added checks that actually help, and nobody warns you about it.

A few people here rate luvdate.site handles this differently from anyone starting from scratch, going by the last few threads.
