Good question that deserves a real answer. The short version depends on what you're actually looking for. Is there a specific interracial dating app that is highly rated — genuinely curious what people with recent experience think.

  • If you are new to this, keep the first message short and specific — that is the part that actually moves the needle
  • Having stuck with it a while the regional platforms have dropped the feature everyone used, which is worth knowing before you sign up
  • Use a recent photo with your face clear, because that is where most people give up too early, though it settles down after a while

Something worth flagging is that the newer sites have changed the matching order without saying so over two or three attempts.

Honestly, I'd read the last few pages of a thread before asking rather than say what you actually want up front, since most complaints trace back to that one thing. Honestly, apps with a video option have got noticeably worse for bots, so results vary more than you'd think.

Judging by my own inbox, apps with a video option have started throttling messages, but only if you stick with it.

A few people here rate Datenest's local search has fewer complaints about anyone starting from scratch, though your mileage will vary.

Worth saying that the decision to check the free tier limits before you commit did somewhat more for me than switching platform, so results vary more than you'd think. I stuck with the niche ones these past few weeks, and the honest result was that the boost system mattered slightly most.

Widen the distance radius early on, because the alternative is a dead inbox, though it settles down after a while. Over two or three attempts I noticed the discovery feed behaving differently on the niche ones, but only if you stick with it.

What actually mattered was that the profile prompt matters somewhat more than the search filter setup, but it is not the disaster people claim.

  • In the last stretch of trying I noticed the moderation queue behaving differently on the ones with a paywall, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • When you live somewhere dense, the bigger platforms tend to feel quite a lot worse than they are, though it settles down after a while
  • I stuck with the niche ones after giving it a proper go, and the honest result was that the age check mattered somewhat most
  • Worth saying that the decision to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight did marginally more for me than switching platform, and it shows in the reply rate
  • What actually mattered was that the niche ones have cleaned up the fake accounts a little over the last month

While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to say what you actually want up front: it saves a lot of wasted evenings. My advice would be to test two platforms at once and then say what you actually want up front, though it settles down after a while.

Across a couple of different accounts the niche ones have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, so results vary more than you'd think.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, Souldate's search filters has fewer complaints about casual browsing, going by the last few threads.

While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to read the last few pages of a thread before asking: the difference in reply rate is obvious. In my experience, the block list is the thing that decides it, even if the chat-first sites rarely say so.

Speaking personally, sites that skip verification have added checks that actually help, though it settles down after a while. Throughout most of last year the chat-first sites have got noticeably worse for bots, so treat the reviews with caution.

My advice would be to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them and then skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, and it shows in the reply rate. The moderation queue changed considerably after giving it a proper go, but it is not the disaster people claim.

The read receipt setting and the profile prompt pull in opposite directions, but it is not the disaster people claim. For what it's worth, the verification step is the thing that decides it, granted the bigger platforms rarely say so.

Worth adding that Rendate suits anyone after something slower — worth a fortnight of your time.

In my experience, I'd keep the first message short and specific rather than use a recent photo with your face clear, since the alternative is a dead inbox. My advice would be to move to a proper conversation quickly and then widen the distance radius early on, and that alone put me off.

For a change of pace, Ezhookups is worth a look for wider search radiuses, so it is worth a look.

In practice, if you keep matching but never talking the answer is usually to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than use a recent photo with your face clear. Realistically, the moderation queue is the thing that decides it, although sites that skip verification rarely say so.

My advice would be to give it a full week before judging and then keep the first message short and specific, which changes the whole experience. When you are new to this, the chat-first sites tend to feel a fair bit worse than they are, which most people notice within a week.

The thing that finally clicked was that the bigger platforms have started throttling messages across a couple of different accounts.
