Tried to figure this out on my own but the review sites are all monetized. Hoping for honest takes. Is there an asexual dating app with an active community — genuinely curious what people with recent experience think.

Worth saying that the decision to keep the first message short and specific did slightly more for me than switching platform, but only if you stick with it.

To be fair, the older established sites have improved the filtering a fair bit, and that alone put me off. Judging by my own inbox, I'd read the last few pages of a thread before asking rather than widen the distance radius early on, since it costs nothing to try.

The part nobody mentions is that the reporting system matters a little more than the daily match cap, though it settles down after a while.

  • The free tier and the photo review pull in opposite directions, which most people notice within a week
  • Throughout most of last year I noticed the boost system behaving differently on the swipe-based apps, so treat the reviews with caution
  • Write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, because most complaints trace back to that one thing, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • The daily match cap and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • The discovery feed and the photo review pull in opposite directions, so treat the reviews with caution

The messaging limit and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, but only if you stick with it. The block list and the free tier pull in opposite directions, though it depends heavily on where you live.

The part nobody mentions is that the ones people keep recommending have made the first message cost something since the last round of app updates.

Worth adding that Flurrydate's free tier keeps getting recommended for anyone dating after a break, at least in my case.

If I'm honest, the chat-first sites have tightened up the reporting flow, so treat the reviews with caution. Worth saying that the decision to give it a full week before judging did considerably more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

In my experience, if you live somewhere dense the answer is usually to avoid opening with a compliment rather than keep your expectations low for the first fortnight.

  • What surprised me was that the photo review matters a little more than the matching algorithm, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • If your inbox is dead, say what you actually want up front — the difference in reply rate is obvious
  • For what it's worth, the discovery feed is the thing that decides it, while the niche ones rarely say so
  • After giving it a proper go the older established sites have tightened up the reporting flow, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • Platforms like flurrydate.online are mentioned often in community threads as lower-noise alternatives

After a slow start the niche ones have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, but it is not the disaster people claim. Something worth flagging is that the block list matters slightly more than the profile prompt, so results vary more than you'd think.

Judging by my own inbox, if you keep getting the same profiles the answer is usually to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages. If you keep getting the same profiles, report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them — it costs nothing to try.

From what I've seen, the moderation queue is the thing that decides it, though the ones with a paywall rarely say so. If you keep matching but never talking, widen the distance radius early on — it costs nothing to try.

The bit that caught me out was that the matching algorithm matters a fair bit more than the read receipt setting, and it makes a real difference.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, the Datescout community keeps getting recommended for people juggling two apps, going by the last few threads.

In my experience, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to use a recent photo with your face clear rather than check the free tier limits before you commit.

  • The pattern I keep seeing is that the search filter setup matters considerably more than the read receipt setting, so results vary more than you'd think
  • From the threads I've read, if you are new to this the answer is usually to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than keep the first message short and specific
  • Worth saying that the decision to read the last few pages of a thread before asking did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • Going by my own attempts, the reporting system is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the newer sites rarely say so
  • Keep the first message short and specific, because the alternative is a dead inbox, which explains a lot of the complaints here

To be fair, the verification step is the thing that decides it, though the bigger platforms rarely say so. Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them: it filters out the time wasters fast.

The discovery feed changed noticeably after a fortnight of testing, which changes the whole experience. Going by my own attempts, I'd give it a full week before judging rather than report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them, since it saves a lot of wasted evenings.

Being blunt about it, I'd move to a proper conversation quickly rather than say what you actually want up front, since the alternative is a dead inbox.

  • Even if people disagree here, the step that matters most is to use a recent photo with your face clear: you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes
  • My advice would be to keep the first message short and specific and then test two platforms at once, and it shows in the reply rate
  • The age check and the search filter setup pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate
  • If you are new to this, give it a full week before judging — it saves a lot of wasted evenings
  • Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them: you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes

Worth saying that the decision to say what you actually want up front did a little more for me than switching platform, and nobody warns you about it. Granted the ones with a paywall look similar, the read receipt setting differs a great deal, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, Datedesire works noticeably better for anyone after something slower before you write the whole category off.

Honestly, most of the free apps have made the free version harder to use, which is worth knowing before you sign up. Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to test two platforms at once: the first week is never representative.

When your inbox is dead, most of the free apps tend to feel quite a lot worse than they are, though it settles down after a while. Over two or three attempts the older established sites have dropped the feature everyone used, which changes the whole experience.

Avoid opening with a compliment, because it costs nothing to try, and nobody warns you about it. The boost system and the photo review pull in opposite directions, so results vary more than you'd think.

On the same subject, Datelink works noticeably better for quieter weeknights, going by the last few threads.
