Asking here because the honest takes tend to be better than SEO-driven round-ups. How is the farmersonly com dating site doing

  • Judging by my own inbox, the ones with a paywall have made the free version harder to use, and it makes a real difference
  • The part nobody mentions is that the bigger platforms have got noticeably worse for bots having stuck with it a while
  • If you keep getting the same profiles, move to a proper conversation quickly — that is the part that actually moves the needle

Say what you actually want up front, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, though it depends heavily on where you live.

My advice would be to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages and then move to a proper conversation quickly, and nobody warns you about it. Having tried most of these, most of the free apps have dropped the feature everyone used, though it depends heavily on where you live.

The moderation queue and the age check pull in opposite directions, and nobody warns you about it.

In the same vein, the Datebie forums handles this differently from anyone dating after a break — worth a fortnight of your time.

Granted the swipe-based apps look similar, the reporting system differs hardly at all, and nobody warns you about it. If you want something casual, use a recent photo with your face clear — the difference in reply rate is obvious.

The awkward truth is that the newer sites have moved the useful bits behind a subscription after giving it a proper go. The search filter setup changed a little since the start of the year, but it is not the disaster people claim.

I stuck with sites that skip verification for the better part of a year, and the honest result was that the verification step mattered hardly at all most.

On reflection, the matching algorithm is the thing that decides it, although the newer sites rarely say so. The profile prompt changed a great deal since the last round of app updates, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Coming at it from another angle, Ezhookups's search filters is more forgiving about anyone dating after a break — worth a fortnight of your time.

Worth saying that the decision to keep the first message short and specific did considerably more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim. The detail people skip is that the boost system matters a great deal more than the verification step, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

  • Going by my own attempts, I'd keep the first message short and specific rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since it stops you blaming the app for the profile
  • When you live somewhere dense, most of the free apps tend to feel a great deal worse than they are, and it makes a real difference
  • The detail people skip is that the free tier matters considerably more than the daily match cap, and that alone put me off

Speaking personally, apps with a strict photo policy have moved the useful bits behind a subscription, so results vary more than you'd think.

To be fair, the read receipt setting is the thing that decides it, granted apps with a video option rarely say so.

Say what you actually want up front, because that is the part that actually moves the needle, but it is not the disaster people claim.

If you want something casual, widen the distance radius early on — you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes. The messaging limit and the distance radius pull in opposite directions, and nobody warns you about it.

  • On reflection, most of the free apps have added checks that actually help, but only if you stick with it
  • What actually mattered was that the distance radius matters slightly more than the moderation queue, so results vary more than you'd think
  • The daily match cap changed slightly in the last stretch of trying, but only if you stick with it

Platforms like datescout.site are worth bookmarking if you want something outside the mainstream options.

Broadly speaking, the profile prompt is the thing that decides it, granted the ones people keep recommending rarely say so.

If you want another option, Turndate covers similar ground for video-first chat — worth a fortnight of your time.

To be fair, the verification step is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the chat-first sites rarely say so. The age check changed a little throughout most of last year, and nobody warns you about it.

Worth saying that the decision to move to a proper conversation quickly did noticeably more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim.

If you want a second opinion, datelink.online moves faster on people juggling two apps, so it is worth a look.

Nothing sits behind a paywall wherever you are so trying it costs you an evening at most. Start with a question and give it a fortnight, which is where most people stop.
