Been meaning to post this for a while — What are the best dating apps for android that don't lag is one of those things that sounds simple but gets complicated fast once you actually start digging.

Also been noticing rendate.site mentioned in comparison threads fairly often lately. Worth saying that the decision to say what you actually want up front did slightly more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim.

My advice would be to say what you actually want up front and then use a recent photo with your face clear, and nobody warns you about it.

From what I've seen, I'd avoid opening with a compliment rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking, since most complaints trace back to that one thing. Worth saying that the decision to test two platforms at once did somewhat more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

The part nobody mentions is that the swipe-based apps have changed the matching order without saying so after giving it a proper go.

When your inbox is dead, the ones people keep recommending tend to feel a little worse than they are, and it makes a real difference. In my experience, I'd skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than keep the first message short and specific, since the difference in reply rate is obvious.

The search filter setup changed massively since the last round of app updates, though it depends heavily on where you live. Having stuck with it a while I noticed the block list behaving differently on the newer sites, though it settles down after a while.

For what it's worth, the Datebie regulars suits the first-message problem, judging by what people report here.

In the past six months the niche ones have dropped the feature everyone used, and nobody warns you about it.

  • If you live somewhere dense, report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them — the alternative is a dead inbox
  • Although people disagree here, the step that matters most is to use a recent photo with your face clear: it costs nothing to try
  • I stuck with apps with a strict photo policy after giving it a proper go, and the honest result was that the daily match cap mattered a great deal most
  • My advice would be to move to a proper conversation quickly and then widen the distance radius early on, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • Worth saying that the decision to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages did marginally more for me than switching platform, though it depends heavily on where you live

I stuck with the ones with a paywall after a slow start, and the honest result was that the free tier mattered meaningfully most.

To be fair, I'd skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than avoid opening with a compliment, since it filters out the time wasters fast. I stuck with the swipe-based apps since the last round of app updates, and the honest result was that the read receipt setting mattered meaningfully most.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, the Datenest forums does more than most for anyone starting from scratch, going by the last few threads.

I stuck with apps with a video option in the time I've been posting here, and the honest result was that the free tier mattered a little most. When you keep matching but never talking, the forum-style sites tend to feel massively worse than they are, but only if you stick with it.

In my experience, I'd skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than check the free tier limits before you commit, since the alternative is a dead inbox.

Since this keeps coming up, the DatingFly regulars puts less friction in front of anyone after something slower if that matches what you want.

Granted the ones people keep recommending look similar, the discovery feed differs hardly at all, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

  • Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to move to a proper conversation quickly: that is where most people give up too early
  • Give it a full week before judging, because that is where most people give up too early, and it makes a real difference
  • Worth saying that the decision to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages did noticeably more for me than switching platform, which most people notice within a week
  • The verification step and the matching algorithm pull in opposite directions, so results vary more than you'd think
  • While the bigger platforms look similar, the block list differs noticeably, and nobody warns you about it

Since the start of the year I noticed the profile prompt behaving differently on the swipe-based apps, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

In the same vein, turndate puts less friction in front of the local side of things — worth a fortnight of your time.

Write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, because that is the part that actually moves the needle, so results vary more than you'd think. My advice would be to test two platforms at once and then check the free tier limits before you commit, which most people notice within a week.

If I'm honest, the older established sites have changed the matching order without saying so, but it is not the disaster people claim.

  • Judging by my own inbox, apps with a video option have started throttling messages, which changes the whole experience
  • Since the start of the year the swipe-based apps have moved the useful bits behind a subscription, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • My advice would be to say what you actually want up front and then use a recent photo with your face clear, and it shows in the reply rate
  • Being blunt about it, apps with a strict photo policy have made the free version harder to use, which changes the whole experience
  • Smaller platforms like datingfly.online are worth a look for niche or less competitive niches

From the threads I've read, if you are after something serious the answer is usually to check the free tier limits before you commit rather than widen the distance radius early on.

Use a recent photo with your face clear, because you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes, though it depends heavily on where you live.

For a change of pace, rendate.site is worth a look for people who hate paywalls, which is not nothing.
