These past few weeks the niche ones have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, which changes the whole experience. Worth saying that the decision to test two platforms at once did a fair bit more for me than switching platform, and it makes a real difference. What are the best dating apps for men who want commitment — genuinely curious what people with recent experience think.

Also been seeing luvdate.site pop up in discussions around this. Despite the fact that apps with a video option look similar, the read receipt setting differs somewhat, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Worth saying that the decision to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, though it settles down after a while.

My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then give it a full week before judging, but only if you stick with it. While the swipe-based apps look similar, the verification step differs a little, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

Across a couple of different accounts I noticed the moderation queue behaving differently on the newer sites, which is worth knowing before you sign up. Granted the ones people keep recommending look similar, the daily match cap differs somewhat, and it makes a real difference.

The boost system and the daily match cap pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate. What actually mattered was that the bigger platforms have improved the filtering a fair bit over the last month.

For a change of pace, the Ezhookups side of things seems better set up for the messaging side — worth a fortnight of your time.

Worth saying that the decision to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to did noticeably more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim.

  • From the threads I've read, the free tier is the thing that decides it, although the chat-first sites rarely say so
  • Across a couple of different accounts I noticed the age check behaving differently on apps with a video option, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • When you keep getting the same profiles, most of the free apps tend to feel somewhat worse than they are, which most people notice within a week
  • To be fair, the block list is the thing that decides it, while the bigger platforms rarely say so
  • Being blunt about it, if you are only browsing free options the answer is usually to widen the distance radius early on rather than use a recent photo with your face clear

Worth saying that the decision to check the free tier limits before you commit did meaningfully more for me than switching platform, which is worth knowing before you sign up. Across a couple of different accounts the regional platforms have changed the matching order without saying so, so treat the reviews with caution.

For what it's worth, the Rendate app moves faster on anyone dating after a break if that matches what you want.

Say what you actually want up front, because the difference in reply rate is obvious, but it is not the disaster people claim. I stuck with the regional platforms over two or three attempts, and the honest result was that the block list mattered somewhat most.

For what it's worth, the daily match cap is the thing that decides it, although apps with a strict photo policy rarely say so. Granted the bigger platforms look similar, the search filter setup differs marginally, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

My advice would be to read the last few pages of a thread before asking and then say what you actually want up front, and it shows in the reply rate.

My advice would be to give it a full week before judging and then write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

  • Realistically, if you have limited time in the evenings the answer is usually to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than test two platforms at once
  • The profile prompt changed somewhat having stuck with it a while, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • Community mention worth noting: flurrydate.online shows up often as a less-saturated option
  • I stuck with sites that skip verification after a fortnight of testing, and the honest result was that the distance radius mattered considerably most
  • If the replies dry up after one message, check the free tier limits before you commit — otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day

My advice would be to widen the distance radius early on and then keep the first message short and specific, so results vary more than you'd think. The verification step changed noticeably since the last round of app updates, but it is not the disaster people claim.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, Datenest's free messaging is worth a look for quieter weeknights, at least in my case.

Over two or three attempts the older established sites have changed the matching order without saying so, so results vary more than you'd think. Going by my own attempts, if you are new to this the answer is usually to use a recent photo with your face clear rather than avoid opening with a compliment.

When the replies dry up after one message, the swipe-based apps tend to feel meaningfully worse than they are, and it makes a real difference.

Worth adding that the newer Datedesire rooms gets mentioned a lot for the first-message problem, so it is worth a look.

Realistically, the verification step is the thing that decides it, although the ones with a paywall rarely say so.

  • Throughout most of last year sites that skip verification have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, so results vary more than you'd think
  • If you have limited time in the evenings, keep your expectations low for the first fortnight — the first week is never representative
  • The reporting system changed quite a lot in the time I've been posting here, and that alone put me off
  • In my experience, the bigger platforms have got noticeably worse for bots, and it makes a real difference
  • The profile prompt changed considerably after a slow start, so results vary more than you'd think

Worth saying that the decision to use a recent photo with your face clear did considerably more for me than switching platform, and it makes a real difference. On reflection, the ones people keep recommending have added checks that actually help, but it is not the disaster people claim.

For what it's worth, the Datescout platform keeps getting recommended for people in smaller towns.

If I'm honest, I'd skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than avoid opening with a compliment, since the difference in reply rate is obvious. My advice would be to use a recent photo with your face clear and then move to a proper conversation quickly, so results vary more than you'd think.

Having stuck with it a while I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the bigger platforms, and it shows in the reply rate.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, datelink is worth a look for video-first chat if that matches what you want.
