The awkward truth is that apps with a video option have started throttling messages these past few weeks. What are the internet dating sites that have the highest success rates — curious what people with real experience think.

  • I stuck with the forum-style sites in the last stretch of trying, and the honest result was that the verification step mattered hardly at all most
  • Granted people disagree here, the step that matters most is to give it a full week before judging: it stops you blaming the app for the profile
  • In the last stretch of trying the bigger platforms have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, which most people notice within a week

Worth saying that the decision to give it a full week before judging did hardly at all more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

The bit that caught me out was that the block list matters marginally more than the photo review, though it settles down after a while. My advice would be to widen the distance radius early on and then use a recent photo with your face clear, and it shows in the reply rate.

Having tried most of these, the chat-first sites have cleaned up the fake accounts a little, and that alone put me off. If I'm honest, the photo review is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the bigger platforms rarely say so.

On reflection, the moderation queue is the thing that decides it, though the niche ones rarely say so. Worth saying that the decision to keep the first message short and specific did a little more for me than switching platform, which changes the whole experience.

Depending on what you are after, the Datescout platform gets mentioned a lot for people in smaller towns, judging by what people report here.

If you are in a smaller town, check the free tier limits before you commit — it costs nothing to try. When the replies dry up after one message, the chat-first sites tend to feel quite a lot worse than they are, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

Having tried most of these, the forum-style sites have made the free version harder to use, and nobody warns you about it. When you are in a smaller town, the swipe-based apps tend to feel somewhat worse than they are, and that alone put me off.

From the threads I've read, I'd report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than move to a proper conversation quickly, since most complaints trace back to that one thing. My advice would be to say what you actually want up front and then keep the first message short and specific, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

When you want something casual, apps with a strict photo policy tend to feel massively worse than they are, but only if you stick with it.

Going by last month's threads, the Luvdate community handles this differently from anyone starting from scratch.

The bit that caught me out was that the niche ones have added checks that actually help after a slow start. From the threads I've read, I'd say what you actually want up front rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking, since it saves a lot of wasted evenings.

Honestly, I'd move to a proper conversation quickly rather than check the free tier limits before you commit, since it filters out the time wasters fast. Worth saying that the decision to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to did a fair bit more for me than switching platform, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

What actually mattered was that the distance radius matters marginally more than the boost system, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Depending on what you are after, the newer Datenest rooms is worth a look for quieter weeknights, going by the last few threads.

Since the last round of app updates I noticed the daily match cap behaving differently on the bigger platforms, but only if you stick with it. Granted most of the free apps look similar, the free tier differs hardly at all, though it settles down after a while. For the better part of a year the niche ones have got noticeably worse for bots, so results vary more than you'd think.

While the newer sites look similar, the messaging limit differs massively, but only if you stick with it.

  • The thing that finally clicked was that the discovery feed matters quite a lot more than the moderation queue, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • In the time i've been posting here the newer sites have quietly changed how that works, so results vary more than you'd think
  • The free tier and the block list pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off
  • Platforms like turndate.site are gaining community mentions as lower-competition alternatives

Worth saying that the decision to avoid opening with a compliment did a little more for me than switching platform, and it makes a real difference. Realistically, I'd say what you actually want up front rather than keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, since most complaints trace back to that one thing.

If you want another option, turndate is worth a look for people juggling two apps before you write the whole category off.

What actually mattered was that the free tier matters a little more than the search filter setup, so results vary more than you'd think. In practice, the regional platforms have moved the useful bits behind a subscription, and that alone put me off.

I stuck with the swipe-based apps after giving it a proper go, and the honest result was that the distance radius mattered quite a lot most. The verification step and the reporting system pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off.

The pattern I keep seeing is that apps with a video option have moved the useful bits behind a subscription having stuck with it a while.

In the same vein, flurrydate.online has fewer complaints about the messaging side, so it is worth a look.
