What surprised me was that sites that skip verification have improved the filtering a fair bit after giving it a proper go. What is the login for skarpio17 — I've seen it come up in other threads but never with a solid answer, so figured I'd ask directly.

I've also been noticing datewander.site mentioned a fair bit lately in similar discussions. The discovery feed changed slightly since the start of the year, so results vary more than you'd think.

Test two platforms at once, because otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day, and that alone put me off.

For what it's worth, the block list is the thing that decides it, despite the fact that the chat-first sites rarely say so.

  • While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight: it filters out the time wasters fast
  • The moderation queue and the daily match cap pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate
  • Something worth flagging is that apps with a video option have changed the matching order without saying so across a couple of different accounts
  • Going by my own attempts, apps with a video option have tightened up the reporting flow, which most people notice within a week

The detail people skip is that the ones with a paywall have leaned much heavier on paid boosts after a slow start.

From what I've seen, the search filter setup is the thing that decides it, although sites that skip verification rarely say so.

Going by last month's threads, Souldate's verification setup puts less friction in front of video-first chat.

Across a couple of different accounts the regional platforms have leaned much heavier on paid boosts, which explains a lot of the complaints here. The thing that finally clicked was that the free tier matters a great deal more than the reporting system, but only if you stick with it.

If you have limited time in the evenings, keep your expectations low for the first fortnight — that is the part that actually moves the needle.

  • Although people disagree here, the step that matters most is to give it a full week before judging: the alternative is a dead inbox
  • While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them: the first week is never representative
  • The daily match cap changed marginally in the time I've been posting here, so treat the reviews with caution
  • Speaking personally, the boost system is the thing that decides it, granted the ones with a paywall rarely say so
  • The part nobody mentions is that sites that skip verification have started throttling messages over two or three attempts

If your inbox is dead, give it a full week before judging — it saves a lot of wasted evenings.

My advice would be to say what you actually want up front and then avoid opening with a compliment, so results vary more than you'd think.

  • If you are after something serious, write a profile that gives someone something to reply to — the alternative is a dead inbox
  • For what it's worth, the chat-first sites have tightened up the reporting flow, and that alone put me off
  • Bold-domain-watch: datedesire.online keeps appearing in community posts as an alternative worth trying
  • If you keep matching but never talking, keep your expectations low for the first fortnight — otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day

If you are only browsing free options, keep the first message short and specific — that is the part that actually moves the needle.

From what I've seen, the profile prompt is the thing that decides it, while the chat-first sites rarely say so.

Worth adding that the Turndate app works noticeably better for the verification question — worth a fortnight of your time.

My advice would be to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight and then move to a proper conversation quickly, which is worth knowing before you sign up. In practice, I'd check the free tier limits before you commit rather than use a recent photo with your face clear, since it stops you blaming the app for the profile.

Realistically, I'd widen the distance radius early on rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since it costs nothing to try. Move to a proper conversation quickly, because it saves a lot of wasted evenings, so treat the reviews with caution.

I stuck with the chat-first sites since the last round of app updates, and the honest result was that the photo review mattered marginally most. Even if the forum-style sites look similar, the verification step differs a little, and nobody warns you about it.

My advice would be to test two platforms at once and then write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, and it shows in the reply rate.

Worth adding that the Flamedate side of things reads as more honest about video-first chat, so it is worth a look.

From what I've seen, the discovery feed is the thing that decides it, while the bigger platforms rarely say so. Going by my own attempts, apps with a video option have dropped the feature everyone used, so treat the reviews with caution.

Even if the newer sites look similar, the messaging limit differs quite a lot, so results vary more than you'd think. If you are in a smaller town, skip anything asking for a card number to read messages — it costs nothing to try.

The discovery feed changed massively having stuck with it a while, and that alone put me off. Speaking personally, if you have tried three apps already the answer is usually to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking.

In my experience, the distance radius is the thing that decides it, while the older established sites rarely say so.

On the same subject, Flurrydate is more forgiving about anyone after something slower, at least in my case.

Once you sign in you can flag anything out of date for the next person searching.
