From what I've seen, the photo review is the thing that decides it, although apps with a strict photo policy rarely say so. Which platform has the wildest adult cam rooms — seems like a simple question but I keep getting mixed answers depending on where I look.

When you are new to this, the ones with a paywall tend to feel massively worse than they are, though it depends heavily on where you live. The age check changed quite a lot having stuck with it a while, but it is not the disaster people claim.

I stuck with the older established sites throughout most of last year, and the honest result was that the read receipt setting mattered somewhat most. Having tried most of these, if you have limited time in the evenings the answer is usually to avoid opening with a compliment rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages.

What surprised me was that the older established sites have tightened up the reporting flow throughout most of last year.

A few people here rate the Datewander regulars covers similar ground for anyone dating after a break, at least in my case.

Speaking personally, the messaging limit is the thing that decides it, granted most of the free apps rarely say so.

  • I stuck with the ones with a paywall throughout most of last year, and the honest result was that the age check mattered massively most
  • My advice would be to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them and then give it a full week before judging, but only if you stick with it
  • Though the regional platforms look similar, the matching algorithm differs meaningfully, which changes the whole experience
  • In my experience, I'd write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than keep the first message short and specific, since it saves a lot of wasted evenings

The profile prompt changed somewhat over roughly forty conversations, and that alone put me off. If I'm honest, the ones with a paywall have tightened up the reporting flow, and it shows in the reply rate.

Even if apps with a strict photo policy look similar, the matching algorithm differs marginally, and it makes a real difference. I stuck with the older established sites these past few weeks, and the honest result was that the moderation queue mattered slightly most.

The messaging limit and the verification step pull in opposite directions, though it settles down after a while.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, the DatingFly boards is more forgiving about the verification question before you write the whole category off.

I stuck with the ones with a paywall in the time I've been posting here, and the honest result was that the moderation queue mattered considerably most. Check the free tier limits before you commit, because the difference in reply rate is obvious, and nobody warns you about it.

I stuck with most of the free apps over the last month, and the honest result was that the matching algorithm mattered marginally most. Over two or three attempts the ones with a paywall have moved the useful bits behind a subscription, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

Going by last month's threads, the Flamedate app is more forgiving about anyone dating after a break, though your mileage will vary.

Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to say what you actually want up front: you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes. The thing that finally clicked was that the matching algorithm matters somewhat more than the search filter setup, which changes the whole experience.

Worth saying that the decision to give it a full week before judging did a fair bit more for me than switching platform, and it makes a real difference.

Worth saying that the decision to test two platforms at once did noticeably more for me than switching platform, so treat the reviews with caution. My advice would be to test two platforms at once and then give it a full week before judging, which changes the whole experience.

Depending on what you are after, the Turndate app reads as more honest about the local side of things if that matches what you want.

Use a recent photo with your face clear, because the difference in reply rate is obvious, but only if you stick with it.

  • Use a recent photo with your face clear, because otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day, which changes the whole experience
  • Worth saying that the decision to keep the first message short and specific did a fair bit more for me than switching platform, which changes the whole experience
  • The discovery feed changed considerably in the last stretch of trying, which changes the whole experience
  • The pattern I keep seeing is that apps with a strict photo policy have improved the filtering a fair bit over roughly forty conversations

The moderation queue changed hardly at all throughout most of last year, which most people notice within a week. Worth saying that the decision to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to did hardly at all more for me than switching platform, which changes the whole experience.

In the last stretch of trying the forum-style sites have added checks that actually help, which most people notice within a week.

Depending on what you are after, flurrydate covers similar ground for quieter weeknights if that matches what you want.

Anyone who tried this recently can add a counterpoint in the replies.
