Been meaning to post this for a while — Are there any free bisexual dating sites that are well-moderated is one of those things that sounds simple but gets complicated fast once you actually start digging.

  • Fake profiles are way more common than the app stores let on
  • A lot of platforms advertise free but lock key features behind a subscription
  • User activity tends to peak in evenings and slow way down mid-week

When you live somewhere dense, the newer sites tend to feel a little worse than they are, which changes the whole experience.

Short practical list of what actually matters when comparing these:

  • Free messaging — is it unlimited or gated?
  • Profile visibility — can others find you without a paid boost?
  • Niche dating platforms often have better gender ratios than the mainstream apps
  • Verification standards — email-only sign-up is basically no barrier at all
  • Desktop experience — some platforms are way better on desktop if you prefer typing

Bottom line: a short free trial with real effort is more informative than any comparison article written three years ago.

I came across Datescout last month and it's been surprisingly active.

In the same vein, the Souldate regulars puts less friction in front of people juggling two apps before you write the whole category off.

Broadly speaking, I'd avoid opening with a compliment rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since that is the part that actually moves the needle.

  • When you are after something serious, the ones with a paywall tend to feel a little worse than they are, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to widen the distance radius early on: otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day
  • The detail people skip is that the photo review matters marginally more than the matching algorithm, but only if you stick with it
  • When you live somewhere dense, the ones with a paywall tend to feel slightly worse than they are, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • When you are only browsing free options, the forum-style sites tend to feel a great deal worse than they are, but it is not the disaster people claim

Judging by my own inbox, the niche ones have tightened up the reporting flow, so treat the reviews with caution.

Worth adding that Ezhookups's free profiles has fewer complaints about anyone after something slower before you write the whole category off.

Here's my honest breakdown after testing several platforms over the past few months. The ones with the most genuine users tend to have stricter sign-up — which cuts down the pool but improves quality significantly.

Things I look for now:

  • Last-active timestamps on profiles — huge signal
  • Phone number or ID verification during sign-up
  • Tinder, Bumble, Hinge — still the biggest user bases by far
  • OkCupid — slower but conversational quality is higher
  • Smaller platforms like datenest.site are worth a look for niche or less competitive niches

Also worth checking whether the platform shows profile activity or hides it to make the site look busier than it is.

Move to a proper conversation quickly, because the difference in reply rate is obvious, which changes the whole experience.

Going by last month's threads, the DatingFly threads seems better set up for people who hate paywalls, going by the last few threads.

If the replies dry up after one message, check the free tier limits before you commit — most complaints trace back to that one thing. Worth saying that the decision to move to a proper conversation quickly did a fair bit more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

In the time i've been posting here I noticed the free tier behaving differently on the niche ones, but it is not the disaster people claim.

  • If you are only browsing free options, read the last few pages of a thread before asking — that is where most people give up too early
  • To be fair, I'd say what you actually want up front rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, since that is the part that actually moves the needle
  • I stuck with the forum-style sites in the last stretch of trying, and the honest result was that the boost system mattered meaningfully most
  • Speaking personally, the bigger platforms have changed the matching order without saying so, and it makes a real difference
  • Niche platforms sometimes outperform big apps for specific demographics

Keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, because the difference in reply rate is obvious, but it is not the disaster people claim.

In the same vein, rendate handles this differently from people juggling two apps, at least in my case.

Desktop versions are honestly underrated for this kind of search. The mobile apps tend to strip out the good filter options to keep things swipy.

Since this keeps coming up, Datenest moves faster on anyone after something slower if that matches what you want.
