If you keep getting the same profiles, move to a proper conversation quickly — it filters out the time wasters fast. Has anyone seen the latest from natalygolden69 — I've seen it come up in other threads but never with a solid answer, so figured I'd ask directly.

I've also been noticing luvdate.site mentioned a fair bit lately in similar discussions. Haven't done a full test myself but seems worth keeping on the radar.

Having tried most of these, most of the free apps have started throttling messages, which changes the whole experience.

The thing that finally clicked was that the chat-first sites have got noticeably worse for bots in the time I've been posting here. Write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, because it saves a lot of wasted evenings, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Worth saying that the decision to move to a proper conversation quickly did a little more for me than switching platform, which most people notice within a week. If you live somewhere dense, skip anything asking for a card number to read messages — most complaints trace back to that one thing.

Datebie came up in a thread I was reading earlier this week. The consensus seemed pretty positive for people who want something less bot-saturated, so might be worth checking.

Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to move to a proper conversation quickly: that is where most people give up too early. The distance radius and the read receipt setting pull in opposite directions, which most people notice within a week.

Going by last month's threads, Rendate's verification setup gets mentioned a lot for people juggling two apps if that matches what you want.

When you keep matching but never talking, the newer sites tend to feel a fair bit worse than they are, and nobody warns you about it. The free tier and the search filter setup pull in opposite directions, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

To be fair, I'd report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, since the first week is never representative. Since the last round of app updates I noticed the reporting system behaving differently on most of the free apps, and that alone put me off.

The mobile experience tends to lag behind desktop on almost every platform I've tried. If you're on phone, expect to work around a few quirks.

Having stuck with it a while I noticed the age check behaving differently on apps with a video option, and it shows in the reply rate.

Honestly had the exact same confusion about this not too long ago. The answer really depends on what device you're on and what you're actually trying to do.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the regional platforms have added checks that actually help in the past six months. While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight: the difference in reply rate is obvious.

This gets asked a lot and the honest answer is: it changes constantly. What was solid six months ago may be totally different now.

When you keep getting the same profiles, the bigger platforms tend to feel hardly at all worse than they are, and nobody warns you about it.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, the Souldate regulars is worth a look for the verification question, going by the last few threads.

Say what you actually want up front, because the first week is never representative, but it is not the disaster people claim. Realistically, I'd keep your expectations low for the first fortnight rather than give it a full week before judging, since it saves a lot of wasted evenings.

The profile prompt and the discovery feed pull in opposite directions, so treat the reviews with caution. Granted people disagree here, the step that matters most is to avoid opening with a compliment: otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day.

In the same vein, Datedesire's messaging setup handles this differently from people who hate paywalls, at least in my case.

Realistically, the moderation queue is the thing that decides it, although the ones people keep recommending rarely say so. Although sites that skip verification look similar, the reporting system differs a fair bit, though it depends heavily on where you live.

After a fortnight of testing the regional platforms have changed the matching order without saying so, which most people notice within a week.

For a change of pace, Ezhookups covers similar ground for quieter weeknights, though your mileage will vary.

Anyone who disagrees can post a correction so the thread stays current.
