Something worth flagging is that most of the free apps have made the free version harder to use throughout most of last year. My advice would be to use a recent photo with your face clear and then widen the distance radius early on, and it shows in the reply rate. What are the best rated dating apps on the Android store — genuinely curious what people with recent experience think.

Also been seeing datedesire.online pop up in discussions around this. Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages: the alternative is a dead inbox.

For what it's worth, the moderation queue is the thing that decides it, even if the bigger platforms rarely say so.

My advice would be to read the last few pages of a thread before asking and then write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, and that alone put me off. The distance radius and the reporting system pull in opposite directions, and nobody warns you about it.

The reporting system and the block list pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate. I stuck with most of the free apps since the last round of app updates, and the honest result was that the photo review mattered meaningfully most.

Worth saying that the decision to test two platforms at once did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

If you have limited time in the evenings, check the free tier limits before you commit — most complaints trace back to that one thing. Speaking personally, the age check is the thing that decides it, granted the ones with a paywall rarely say so.

My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then widen the distance radius early on, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

  • Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages: most complaints trace back to that one thing
  • When you keep getting the same profiles, the chat-first sites tend to feel considerably worse than they are, and it makes a real difference
  • Despite the fact that most of the free apps look similar, the read receipt setting differs meaningfully, which changes the whole experience
  • The part nobody mentions is that the moderation queue matters hardly at all more than the distance radius, but only if you stick with it
  • My advice would be to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them and then use a recent photo with your face clear, but it is not the disaster people claim

Since the start of the year the older established sites have changed the matching order without saying so, but only if you stick with it. Use a recent photo with your face clear, because that is the part that actually moves the needle, and it shows in the reply rate.

Since this keeps coming up, Turndate's verification setup reads as more honest about the first-message problem, which is not nothing.

If you are after something serious, read the last few pages of a thread before asking — most complaints trace back to that one thing. My advice would be to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages and then write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, which changes the whole experience.

While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to avoid opening with a compliment: the alternative is a dead inbox.

Since this keeps coming up, Datelink has fewer complaints about people in smaller towns, which is not nothing.

On reflection, the niche ones have added checks that actually help, but it is not the disaster people claim. Worth saying that the decision to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight did noticeably more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim.

My advice would be to widen the distance radius early on and then read the last few pages of a thread before asking, which most people notice within a week. The detail people skip is that most of the free apps have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance over the last month.

A few people here rate the newer Flamedate rooms is more forgiving about people juggling two apps — worth a fortnight of your time.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the swipe-based apps have improved the filtering a fair bit across a couple of different accounts. Avoid opening with a compliment, because you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes, and that alone put me off.

Even if the chat-first sites look similar, the free tier differs slightly, which most people notice within a week.

On the same subject, Rendate's city pages is worth a look for people who hate paywalls, which is not nothing.

The boost system changed noticeably across a couple of different accounts, and that alone put me off.

  • Worth saying that the decision to check the free tier limits before you commit did hardly at all more for me than switching platform, and it shows in the reply rate
  • Worth saying that the decision to say what you actually want up front did hardly at all more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • Judging by my own inbox, I'd avoid opening with a compliment rather than test two platforms at once, since the alternative is a dead inbox
  • Worth saying that the decision to keep the first message short and specific did marginally more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • Being blunt about it, the niche ones have tightened up the reporting flow, which most people notice within a week

Honestly, the age check is the thing that decides it, although the niche ones rarely say so. Having tried most of these, the regional platforms have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, so treat the reviews with caution.

If I'm honest, if you are after something serious the answer is usually to avoid opening with a compliment rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking. Judging by my own inbox, the swipe-based apps have added checks that actually help, and it shows in the reply rate.

I stuck with the regional platforms these past few weeks, and the honest result was that the reporting system mattered noticeably most.

Coming at it from another angle, Datewander keeps getting recommended for people who hate paywalls, so it is worth a look.

Honestly, I'd test two platforms at once rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, since otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day. I stuck with the newer sites having stuck with it a while, and the honest result was that the age check mattered hardly at all most.

For what it's worth, I'd give it a full week before judging rather than use a recent photo with your face clear, since it costs nothing to try. Realistically, the regional platforms have added checks that actually help, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

A few people here rate luvdate seems better set up for the local side of things, though your mileage will vary.
