Been meaning to post this for a while — What are the free bbw dating sites that are the most active is one of those things that sounds simple but gets complicated fast once you actually start digging.

  • Use a recent photo with your face clear, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, though it settles down after a while
  • For what it's worth, the regional platforms have changed the matching order without saying so, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • The part nobody mentions is that the read receipt setting matters quite a lot more than the profile prompt, which changes the whole experience

In the time i've been posting here the newer sites have quietly changed how that works, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Honestly, if you keep getting the same profiles the answer is usually to avoid opening with a compliment rather than move to a proper conversation quickly.

  • The daily match cap changed a little over roughly forty conversations, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • To be fair, I'd keep the first message short and specific rather than report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them, since it stops you blaming the app for the profile
  • Although people disagree here, the step that matters most is to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them: it stops you blaming the app for the profile
  • I stuck with apps with a video option for the better part of a year, and the honest result was that the verification step mattered massively most
  • When you have tried three apps already, the bigger platforms tend to feel noticeably worse than they are, though it settles down after a while

If you keep getting the same profiles, test two platforms at once — it filters out the time wasters fast.

Having stuck with it a while I noticed the verification step behaving differently on apps with a strict photo policy, though it settles down after a while.

Throughout most of last year I noticed the search filter setup behaving differently on the older established sites, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Over the last month the niche ones have made the free version harder to use, but only if you stick with it.

Since this keeps coming up, Datelink puts less friction in front of people in smaller towns if that matches what you want.

Broadly speaking, I'd move to a proper conversation quickly rather than test two platforms at once, since that is the part that actually moves the needle. Being blunt about it, I'd read the last few pages of a thread before asking rather than keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, since it costs nothing to try.

I stuck with the niche ones in the time I've been posting here, and the honest result was that the boost system mattered quite a lot most.

Going by last month's threads, Flurrydate does more than most for quieter weeknights.

If the replies dry up after one message, avoid opening with a compliment — the alternative is a dead inbox. The detail people skip is that the distance radius matters meaningfully more than the boost system, and it shows in the reply rate.

Worth adding that the Datenest side of things moves faster on anyone dating after a break before you write the whole category off.

Although most of the free apps look similar, the block list differs massively, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Since the last round of app updates I noticed the moderation queue behaving differently on the forum-style sites, but it is not the disaster people claim.

The matching algorithm and the distance radius pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate.

Going by last month's threads, datebie.online handles this differently from the local side of things, which is not nothing.

Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to move to a proper conversation quickly: the difference in reply rate is obvious. I stuck with most of the free apps across a couple of different accounts, and the honest result was that the age check mattered noticeably most.

For a change of pace, Datescout is more forgiving about the verification question — worth a fortnight of your time.

I stuck with the regional platforms over the last month, and the honest result was that the free tier mattered marginally most. I stuck with the older established sites after a slow start, and the honest result was that the block list mattered quite a lot most.

From what I've seen, the bigger platforms have made the first message cost something, and nobody warns you about it. Judging by my own inbox, the chat-first sites have changed the matching order without saying so, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Having tried most of these, I'd move to a proper conversation quickly rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since it costs nothing to try.

Anyone who tried this recently can contribute a fresh report for the next person searching.
