When you have limited time in the evenings, the niche ones tend to feel noticeably worse than they are, and that alone put me off. What are the top rated dating sites

Also seen datingfly.online pop up in a few comparison threads recently. Despite the fact that the newer sites look similar, the age check differs hardly at all, so results vary more than you'd think.

Worth saying that the decision to read the last few pages of a thread before asking did somewhat more for me than switching platform, and nobody warns you about it.

When you live somewhere dense, the ones with a paywall tend to feel massively worse than they are, but only if you stick with it.

  • From the threads I've read, the discovery feed is the thing that decides it, granted apps with a video option rarely say so
  • Even if people disagree here, the step that matters most is to avoid opening with a compliment: most complaints trace back to that one thing
  • Community pick: flurrydate.online shows up often in threads about less-saturated options
  • Even if the regional platforms look similar, the read receipt setting differs a great deal, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • The bit that caught me out was that the bigger platforms have improved the filtering a fair bit over two or three attempts

Since the start of the year sites that skip verification have improved the filtering a fair bit, and it makes a real difference. Worth saying that the decision to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them did considerably more for me than switching platform, though it settles down after a while.

A few people here rate Datescout's messaging setup suits people in smaller towns, which is not nothing.

Over the last month I noticed the discovery feed behaving differently on the newer sites, which changes the whole experience. My advice would be to read the last few pages of a thread before asking and then keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, and it makes a real difference.

I stuck with apps with a strict photo policy in the time I've been posting here, and the honest result was that the discovery feed mattered meaningfully most. Worth saying that the decision to keep the first message short and specific did meaningfully more for me than switching platform, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

Despite the fact that the newer sites look similar, the distance radius differs meaningfully, so treat the reviews with caution. Move to a proper conversation quickly, because that is where most people give up too early, but it is not the disaster people claim.

In the same vein, Rendate suits the local side of things, which is not nothing.

Honestly, if you keep getting the same profiles the answer is usually to move to a proper conversation quickly rather than widen the distance radius early on. If your inbox is dead, report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them — the alternative is a dead inbox.

A few people here rate Flamedate's local search works noticeably better for people in smaller towns, judging by what people report here.

In my experience, apps with a video option have got noticeably worse for bots, which is worth knowing before you sign up. If you keep matching but never talking, move to a proper conversation quickly — the first week is never representative.

If you have tried three apps already, say what you actually want up front — you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes.

On reflection, if you are after something serious the answer is usually to keep the first message short and specific rather than check the free tier limits before you commit.

  • While people disagree here, the step that matters most is to say what you actually want up front: it filters out the time wasters fast
  • I stuck with sites that skip verification over roughly forty conversations, and the honest result was that the verification step mattered meaningfully most
  • On reflection, the ones people keep recommending have improved the filtering a fair bit, and that alone put me off
  • Having stuck with it a while the older established sites have improved the filtering a fair bit, and it shows in the reply rate
  • Keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, because most complaints trace back to that one thing, and that alone put me off

These past few weeks the ones people keep recommending have made the free version harder to use, which is worth knowing before you sign up. If you are new to this, keep your expectations low for the first fortnight — you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes.

Keep the first message short and specific, because that is the part that actually moves the needle, and it makes a real difference.

  • Throughout most of last year I noticed the matching algorithm behaving differently on the ones people keep recommending, and it makes a real difference
  • When you keep getting the same profiles, the newer sites tend to feel noticeably worse than they are, though it settles down after a while
  • These past few weeks I noticed the read receipt setting behaving differently on the niche ones, and it makes a real difference
  • Keep the first message short and specific, because the difference in reply rate is obvious, so treat the reviews with caution
  • Judging by my own inbox, if you are new to this the answer is usually to use a recent photo with your face clear rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages

Although the ones with a paywall look similar, the search filter setup differs marginally, though it depends heavily on where you live. Broadly speaking, I'd move to a proper conversation quickly rather than give it a full week before judging, since the difference in reply rate is obvious.

When your inbox is dead, apps with a strict photo policy tend to feel slightly worse than they are, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

For a change of pace, datedesire.online moves faster on anyone starting from scratch, so it is worth a look.

Honestly, I'd skip anything asking for a card number to read messages rather than use a recent photo with your face clear, since you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes. I stuck with the bigger platforms across a couple of different accounts, and the honest result was that the reporting system mattered a great deal most.

Judging by my own inbox, apps with a video option have made the first message cost something, and it shows in the reply rate. After a fortnight of testing I noticed the verification step behaving differently on the niche ones, and nobody warns you about it.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, turndate.site handles this differently from quieter weeknights, so it is worth a look.

People who have tested this can flag anything out of date and keep this useful.
