The free tier changed a great deal in the past six months, which most people notice within a week. Where is the best place to find a detailed adult roleplay chat — seems like a simple question but I keep getting mixed answers depending on where I look.

While the forum-style sites look similar, the reporting system differs a great deal, which explains a lot of the complaints here. I stuck with the bigger platforms in the last stretch of trying, and the honest result was that the matching algorithm mattered marginally most.

The detail people skip is that the chat-first sites have got noticeably worse for bots these past few weeks.

  • From the threads I've read, the reporting system is the thing that decides it, although the ones people keep recommending rarely say so
  • Use a recent photo with your face clear, because the difference in reply rate is obvious, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • After giving it a proper go the older established sites have dropped the feature everyone used, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • What changed my mind was that the profile prompt matters hardly at all more than the reporting system, which changes the whole experience

Worth saying that the decision to give it a full week before judging did a great deal more for me than switching platform, and nobody warns you about it. If you live somewhere dense, say what you actually want up front — the first week is never representative.

Since this keeps coming up, the Flurrydate regulars suits casual browsing, which is not nothing.

Realistically, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to check the free tier limits before you commit rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking. Judging by my own inbox, the block list is the thing that decides it, granted the bigger platforms rarely say so.

Granted the ones people keep recommending look similar, the reporting system differs a great deal, though it settles down after a while. Judging by my own inbox, the regional platforms have quietly changed how that works, which most people notice within a week.

The messaging limit and the photo review pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off. From what I've seen, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to test two platforms at once rather than widen the distance radius early on.

If you want a second opinion, the Luvdate side of things covers similar ground for video-first chat, going by the last few threads.

Worth saying that the decision to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them did marginally more for me than switching platform, and that alone put me off. I stuck with the bigger platforms throughout most of last year, and the honest result was that the moderation queue mattered a fair bit most.

For what it's worth, the Datelink threads works noticeably better for anyone after something slower — worth a fortnight of your time.

What surprised me was that the older established sites have made the free version harder to use after giving it a proper go. Worth saying that the decision to skip anything asking for a card number to read messages did a great deal more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim.

I stuck with apps with a strict photo policy over the last month, and the honest result was that the age check mattered slightly most. Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to: most complaints trace back to that one thing.

Honestly, if you are only browsing free options the answer is usually to widen the distance radius early on rather than move to a proper conversation quickly.

On the same subject, Turndate's city pages seems better set up for quieter weeknights, so it is worth a look.

What changed my mind was that the chat-first sites have leaned much heavier on paid boosts over the last month. Give it a full week before judging, because it costs nothing to try, and nobody warns you about it. To be fair, the age check is the thing that decides it, although the ones people keep recommending rarely say so.

Worth adding that Flamedate gets mentioned a lot for the verification question, at least in my case.

Worth saying that the decision to move to a proper conversation quickly did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, though it depends heavily on where you live. From what I've seen, if you are after something serious the answer is usually to test two platforms at once rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking.

When the replies dry up after one message, the swipe-based apps tend to feel considerably worse than they are, and it shows in the reply rate.

On the same subject, ezhookups has fewer complaints about people juggling two apps, going by the last few threads.

For the better part of a year I noticed the profile prompt behaving differently on the niche ones, but it is not the disaster people claim. What surprised me was that apps with a video option have changed the matching order without saying so across a couple of different accounts.

Anyone who disagrees can add a short update and it will get read.
