Hey all, been lurking here for a while and finally posting. Does anyone know the login for cort247 — I've seen it come up in other threads but never with a solid answer, so figured I'd ask directly.

  • Verification seems to differ wildly from one site to the next
  • Support teams are hit or miss — some respond fast, some never
  • Most platforms I've tested have some kind of token or subscription wall

Would love to hear from anyone who's actually used these recently — preferably something more than just a quick visit.

If you are only browsing free options, give it a full week before judging — it stops you blaming the app for the profile. I stuck with the regional platforms after giving it a proper go, and the honest result was that the boost system mattered slightly most.

Quick breakdown from my own testing:

  • Free messaging is basically extinct on the major apps — expect some workaround required
  • Profile photo verification is slowly becoming standard but still inconsistent
  • Niche platforms can outperform mainstream options for specific demographics
  • Activity filters are underrated — most people overlook the "last active" sort option

Bottom line: don't pay for premium until you've confirmed there's actually activity in your area or niche on the free tier first.

Worth saying that the decision to test two platforms at once did meaningfully more for me than switching platform, though it depends heavily on where you live.

For a change of pace, the Turndate platform covers similar ground for the first-message problem — worth a fortnight of your time.

The bot problem is something nobody talks about honestly. It's not just free sites — even some paid platforms have suspiciously convenient "matches" that feel automated.

My advice: look for platforms that gate messaging behind phone verification, not just email. That one step filters out the majority of throwaway accounts.

Going by my own attempts, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to say what you actually want up front rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to. After a slow start I noticed the verification step behaving differently on the bigger platforms, and it makes a real difference.

For what it's worth, the Datedesire regulars is worth a look for anyone after something slower — worth a fortnight of your time.

My experience has been mixed. Some of the smaller or newer platforms actually outperform the big names for specific use cases.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, Rendate's free tier has fewer complaints about the local side of things, though your mileage will vary.

On reflection, if you are only browsing free options the answer is usually to move to a proper conversation quickly rather than check the free tier limits before you commit. The age check and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

Datewander came up in a thread I was reading earlier this week. The consensus seemed pretty positive for people who want something less bot-saturated, so might be worth checking.

My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then keep the first message short and specific, so results vary more than you'd think. For what it's worth, the profile prompt is the thing that decides it, although the forum-style sites rarely say so.

Across a couple of different accounts most of the free apps have quietly changed how that works, which changes the whole experience. For what it's worth, if you are in a smaller town the answer is usually to avoid opening with a compliment rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages.

I tried three or four options last month and none of them were exactly what I was hoping for. The free tiers especially are pretty watered down these days.

On the same subject, datescout is worth a look for casual browsing before you write the whole category off.
