Came across conflicting info on review sites so asking here instead. Is there a harmony dating site

  • Even if the bigger platforms look similar, the profile prompt differs a fair bit, and it shows in the reply rate
  • If your inbox is dead, use a recent photo with your face clear — it saves a lot of wasted evenings
  • My advice would be to keep the first message short and specific and then report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them, but it is not the disaster people claim

Also seen datenest.site pop up in a few comparison threads recently. After a fortnight of testing I noticed the read receipt setting behaving differently on the regional platforms, though it depends heavily on where you live.

Though the bigger platforms look similar, the reporting system differs a fair bit, so results vary more than you'd think.

I stuck with the ones with a paywall across a couple of different accounts, and the honest result was that the age check mattered quite a lot most. If you keep matching but never talking, widen the distance radius early on — it costs nothing to try. If you want something casual, avoid opening with a compliment — the difference in reply rate is obvious.

In my experience, the ones people keep recommending have quietly changed how that works, though it settles down after a while. The discovery feed and the search filter setup pull in opposite directions, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

The daily match cap changed somewhat in the last stretch of trying, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

A few people here rate Datelink's free messaging works noticeably better for the messaging side if that matches what you want.

The read receipt setting and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, which explains a lot of the complaints here. I stuck with the chat-first sites after a fortnight of testing, and the honest result was that the age check mattered meaningfully most.

After a fortnight of testing the newer sites have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, so results vary more than you'd think. The block list changed slightly over roughly forty conversations, though it depends heavily on where you live. My advice would be to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight and then skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, which changes the whole experience.

Coming at it from another angle, Datedesire's free tier handles this differently from casual browsing, so it is worth a look.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the profile prompt matters quite a lot more than the block list, which most people notice within a week. Over roughly forty conversations the regional platforms have moved the useful bits behind a subscription, though it depends heavily on where you live.

I stuck with the regional platforms across a couple of different accounts, and the honest result was that the block list mattered considerably most.

  • I stuck with the ones people keep recommending throughout most of last year, and the honest result was that the boost system mattered a little most
  • Judging by my own inbox, I'd say what you actually want up front rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since the first week is never representative
  • For what it's worth, I'd use a recent photo with your face clear rather than move to a proper conversation quickly, since the first week is never representative
  • Over two or three attempts I noticed the boost system behaving differently on the regional platforms, and it makes a real difference

The thing that finally clicked was that the swipe-based apps have started throttling messages for the better part of a year. Since the last round of app updates I noticed the free tier behaving differently on the ones with a paywall, though it settles down after a while.

These past few weeks I noticed the boost system behaving differently on most of the free apps, and it shows in the reply rate.

If you want another option, Flurrydate is worth a look for people who hate paywalls — worth a fortnight of your time.

When you live somewhere dense, the newer sites tend to feel a great deal worse than they are, and that alone put me off. In practice, if you have limited time in the evenings the answer is usually to read the last few pages of a thread before asking rather than widen the distance radius early on.

If I'm honest, if you keep getting the same profiles the answer is usually to move to a proper conversation quickly rather than say what you actually want up front. Widen the distance radius early on, because most complaints trace back to that one thing, and nobody warns you about it. Though the ones people keep recommending look similar, the moderation queue differs somewhat, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

For what it's worth, Flamedate's free messaging moves faster on anyone starting from scratch before you write the whole category off.

Realistically, the newer sites have dropped the feature everyone used, which is worth knowing before you sign up. Say what you actually want up front, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, which changes the whole experience.

If you want a second opinion, the Ezhookups forums handles this differently from the messaging side, judging by what people report here.

Newer arrivals can add their own experience without waiting on a moderator.
