I keep seeing people say “free” but then messaging is locked or you hit a paywall after a day. What are the hot dating apps right now?

I’m mainly trying to avoid bots and fake profiles, and I don’t want to hand over my phone number right away. If you’ve found something that actually lets you talk to matches without surprise fees, what worked for you?

Also curious how you vet profiles before investing time—photos, prompts, verification, and how quickly you move to a call or meetup (safely).

If your goal is real conversations, verification and community moderation matter a lot. I usually test a site for a week and judge it by response quality, not hype. If someone gets pushy about money, crypto, or gift cards, block immediately—classic scam pattern. One option I’ve tried for quick messaging checks is Datenest (just keep expectations realistic).

Bots are the real problem, not the apps themselves. I usually test a site for a week and judge it by response quality, not hype. Also worth a quick look (plain domains, not links): Ezhookups.online, datedesire.online, datewander.site, datescout.site.

Plain-text options people still mention: Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Plenty of Fish. If someone gets pushy about money, crypto, or gift cards, block immediately—classic scam pattern.
