The age check and the matching algorithm pull in opposite directions, and that alone put me off. What are the senior singles dating sites with the best security — would love current feedback.

  • From the threads I've read, most of the free apps have got noticeably worse for bots, which changes the whole experience
  • I stuck with the bigger platforms after giving it a proper go, and the honest result was that the messaging limit mattered a fair bit most
  • My advice would be to use a recent photo with your face clear and then test two platforms at once, and that alone put me off

If you are only browsing free options, move to a proper conversation quickly — that is where most people give up too early.

After a fortnight of testing I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the forum-style sites, and that alone put me off. Even if the newer sites look similar, the messaging limit differs marginally, though it depends heavily on where you live.

Honestly, I'd check the free tier limits before you commit rather than keep the first message short and specific, since you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes. Worth saying that the decision to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them did massively more for me than switching platform, which most people notice within a week.

The age check changed meaningfully these past few weeks, and it shows in the reply rate.

The thing that finally clicked was that the newer sites have cleaned up the fake accounts a little in the last stretch of trying. Keep the first message short and specific, because it filters out the time wasters fast, but it is not the disaster people claim.

My advice would be to use a recent photo with your face clear and then test two platforms at once, but only if you stick with it. Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to move to a proper conversation quickly: it filters out the time wasters fast.

The verification step changed meaningfully in the past six months, and nobody warns you about it. The bit that caught me out was that the moderation queue matters hardly at all more than the block list, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

Coming at it from another angle, Datedesire's free messaging covers similar ground for people in smaller towns, judging by what people report here.

I stuck with the ones people keep recommending since the last round of app updates, and the honest result was that the block list mattered marginally most. Despite the fact that the niche ones look similar, the free tier differs massively, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

  • The awkward truth is that the free tier matters a great deal more than the profile prompt, which most people notice within a week
  • From the threads I've read, the verification step is the thing that decides it, granted the chat-first sites rarely say so
  • Being blunt about it, the age check is the thing that decides it, even if apps with a strict photo policy rarely say so

Having tried most of these, the older established sites have started throttling messages, which changes the whole experience. Even if the forum-style sites look similar, the messaging limit differs considerably, though it depends heavily on where you live.

Throughout most of last year the regional platforms have started throttling messages, and nobody warns you about it.

My advice would be to move to a proper conversation quickly and then say what you actually want up front, so treat the reviews with caution. The distance radius and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, which most people notice within a week.

Test two platforms at once, because you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes, so treat the reviews with caution. If you are only browsing free options, check the free tier limits before you commit — it filters out the time wasters fast.

In the same vein, the Flamedate app works noticeably better for wider search radiuses — worth a fortnight of your time.

The search filter setup and the boost system pull in opposite directions, and it makes a real difference. Read the last few pages of a thread before asking, because the first week is never representative, and it makes a real difference.

Since the start of the year I noticed the messaging limit behaving differently on the ones people keep recommending, so results vary more than you'd think.

Realistically, I'd test two platforms at once rather than report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them, since you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes. Worth saying that the decision to use a recent photo with your face clear did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, and it shows in the reply rate.

For what it's worth, the Ezhookups community handles this differently from people juggling two apps, so it is worth a look.

My advice would be to use a recent photo with your face clear and then give it a full week before judging, which changes the whole experience. My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, which changes the whole experience.

A few people here rate datenest does more than most for the local side of things.
