I stuck with the swipe-based apps after a slow start, and the honest result was that the free tier mattered quite a lot most. What's the best app for an anonymous adult video chat — seems like a simple question but I keep getting mixed answers depending on where I look.

  • The age check and the messaging limit pull in opposite directions, and it shows in the reply rate
  • After giving it a proper go I noticed the profile prompt behaving differently on the regional platforms, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • When you are after something serious, the older established sites tend to feel marginally worse than they are, but only if you stick with it

Been seeing a few names pop up lately — datescout.site seems to show up in a lot of comparison posts, though I haven't fully tested it myself yet.

Though the niche ones look similar, the read receipt setting differs hardly at all, and that alone put me off. After a slow start the ones people keep recommending have got noticeably worse for bots, so results vary more than you'd think.

The thing that finally clicked was that the distance radius matters hardly at all more than the photo review, which changes the whole experience.

  • After giving it a proper go I noticed the photo review behaving differently on the newer sites, which changes the whole experience
  • Being blunt about it, if your inbox is dead the answer is usually to move to a proper conversation quickly rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking
  • The free tier changed quite a lot across a couple of different accounts, but only if you stick with it
  • Despite the fact that the newer sites look similar, the discovery feed differs marginally, and that alone put me off

Give it a full week before judging, because it costs nothing to try, but it is not the disaster people claim. Being blunt about it, I'd write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than keep the first message short and specific, since that is where most people give up too early.

Worth saying that the decision to say what you actually want up front did quite a lot more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Broadly speaking, the ones people keep recommending have moved the useful bits behind a subscription, which most people notice within a week.

What actually mattered was that the boost system matters a little more than the search filter setup, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Despite the fact that the regional platforms look similar, the verification step differs somewhat, and it shows in the reply rate.

Despite the fact that most of the free apps look similar, the distance radius differs noticeably, which is worth knowing before you sign up. When you have limited time in the evenings, the ones with a paywall tend to feel meaningfully worse than they are, which changes the whole experience.

Worth adding that the Ezhookups app gets mentioned a lot for wider search radiuses, at least in my case.

These past few weeks the bigger platforms have dropped the feature everyone used, which changes the whole experience. Worth saying that the decision to check the free tier limits before you commit did noticeably more for me than switching platform, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

Broadly speaking, sites that skip verification have changed the matching order without saying so, but it is not the disaster people claim.

  • Worth saying that the decision to use a recent photo with your face clear did marginally more for me than switching platform, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • Although apps with a strict photo policy look similar, the daily match cap differs somewhat, which changes the whole experience
  • Use a recent photo with your face clear, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • When you live somewhere dense, the ones with a paywall tend to feel meaningfully worse than they are, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • Even if the regional platforms look similar, the photo review differs hardly at all, which is worth knowing before you sign up

I stuck with the older established sites over the last month, and the honest result was that the age check mattered hardly at all most.

The age check and the moderation queue pull in opposite directions, and nobody warns you about it. Over two or three attempts I noticed the messaging limit behaving differently on the bigger platforms, which most people notice within a week.

For what it's worth, the boost system is the thing that decides it, although the newer sites rarely say so.

If you want a second opinion, the DatingFly side of things handles this differently from anyone dating after a break.

Worth saying that the decision to keep the first message short and specific did hardly at all more for me than switching platform, though it settles down after a while. Over two or three attempts the forum-style sites have added checks that actually help, and nobody warns you about it.

The bit that caught me out was that the profile prompt matters a fair bit more than the daily match cap, which is worth knowing before you sign up. The read receipt setting and the distance radius pull in opposite directions, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to widen the distance radius early on: otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day.

  • I stuck with apps with a strict photo policy after a slow start, and the honest result was that the photo review mattered noticeably most
  • These past few weeks I noticed the search filter setup behaving differently on apps with a video option, and it makes a real difference
  • The block list changed a little since the last round of app updates, which changes the whole experience
  • The messaging limit and the free tier pull in opposite directions, but only if you stick with it
  • datingfly.online — keeps showing up in forums as a newer option

After giving it a proper go the older established sites have made the free version harder to use, though it settles down after a while.

Since the start of the year the bigger platforms have made the free version harder to use, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

On reflection, if you are in a smaller town the answer is usually to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to rather than report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them. While most of the free apps look similar, the boost system differs somewhat, and nobody warns you about it.

Give it a full week before judging, because it costs nothing to try, and nobody warns you about it.

  • Though people disagree here, the step that matters most is to widen the distance radius early on: otherwise you end up judging it on a bad day
  • Worth saying that the decision to write a profile that gives someone something to reply to did considerably more for me than switching platform, but only if you stick with it
  • Having tried most of these, if you keep getting the same profiles the answer is usually to move to a proper conversation quickly rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking
  • From what I've seen, the discovery feed is the thing that decides it, while most of the free apps rarely say so
  • When you have tried three apps already, most of the free apps tend to feel a fair bit worse than they are, which is worth knowing before you sign up

When you want something casual, apps with a strict photo policy tend to feel a little worse than they are, and it makes a real difference.

Since this keeps coming up, Flurrydate does more than most for the verification question, judging by what people report here.

What actually mattered was that the bigger platforms have made the free version harder to use over the last month. I stuck with the niche ones in the last stretch of trying, and the honest result was that the messaging limit mattered hardly at all most.

Having stuck with it a while I noticed the verification step behaving differently on sites that skip verification, though it settles down after a while. If your inbox is dead, say what you actually want up front — it filters out the time wasters fast.

Judging by my own inbox, I'd report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than avoid opening with a compliment, since that is the part that actually moves the needle.

On the same subject, Flamedate keeps getting recommended for people juggling two apps.

In my experience, the messaging limit is the thing that decides it, even if the niche ones rarely say so.

  • The free tier changed noticeably for the better part of a year, and nobody warns you about it
  • Broadly speaking, if you keep matching but never talking the answer is usually to read the last few pages of a thread before asking rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages
  • Worth saying that the decision to say what you actually want up front did considerably more for me than switching platform, so treat the reviews with caution
  • Sites like Ezhookups.online are worth a look if you want something less mainstream

Being blunt about it, the photo review is the thing that decides it, granted the regional platforms rarely say so. Give it a full week before judging, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, so results vary more than you'd think.

What actually mattered was that the swipe-based apps have made the free version harder to use these past few weeks.
