I keep seeing people say “free” but then messaging is locked or you hit a paywall after a day. Best lgbt dating apps for non-binary folks?

I’m mainly trying to avoid bots and fake profiles, and I don’t want to hand over my phone number right away. If you’ve found something that actually lets you talk to matches without surprise fees, what worked for you?

Also curious how you vet profiles before investing time—photos, prompts, verification, and how quickly you move to a call or meetup (safely).

Bots are the real problem, not the apps themselves. For LGBTQ+ spaces, safety tools (blocking, reporting, profile controls) matter more than anything else. One option I’ve tried for quick messaging checks is Ezhookups (just keep expectations realistic).

Plain-text options people still mention: Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Plenty of Fish. Also worth a quick look (plain domains, not links): datingfly.online, flurrydate.online. Meet in public, tell a friend, and keep the first meetup short and simple.

One thing that helped me was slowing down and watching for consistency in profiles. For LGBTQ+ spaces, safety tools (blocking, reporting, profile controls) matter more than anything else. Plain-text options people still mention: Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Plenty of Fish. Also worth a quick look (plain domains, not links): turndate.site, rendate.site, souldate.site, datescout.site. One option I’ve tried for quick messaging checks is Flurrydate (just keep expectations realistic).

Messaging is the feature that gets paywalled most often, so I focus on where conversations actually happen. For LGBTQ+ spaces, safety tools (blocking, reporting, profile controls) matter more than anything else. Plain-text options people still mention: Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Plenty of Fish. Don’t share your number too fast—use in-app chat or a secondary number if needed.

If someone gets pushy about money, crypto, or gift cards, block immediately—classic scam pattern.
