Been meaning to post this for a while — Is there a dating com free app that doesn't have hidden fees is one of those things that sounds simple but gets complicated fast once you actually start digging.

Also been noticing flamedate.online mentioned in comparison threads fairly often lately. My advice would be to move to a proper conversation quickly and then test two platforms at once, and it makes a real difference.

Although the regional platforms look similar, the read receipt setting differs noticeably, though it settles down after a while.

Granted the bigger platforms look similar, the read receipt setting differs a fair bit, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

  • From what I've seen, if you want something casual the answer is usually to report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them rather than skip anything asking for a card number to read messages
  • Across a couple of different accounts the newer sites have started throttling messages, which most people notice within a week
  • Speaking personally, the ones people keep recommending have changed the matching order without saying so, but only if you stick with it
  • Over two or three attempts the forum-style sites have added checks that actually help, so treat the reviews with caution
  • What surprised me was that the bigger platforms have made the free version harder to use since the start of the year

Judging by my own inbox, the ones people keep recommending have changed the matching order without saying so, though it settles down after a while.

The photo review and the distance radius pull in opposite directions, though it depends heavily on where you live.

The free tier changed massively in the last stretch of trying, which explains a lot of the complaints here. Worth saying that the decision to keep your expectations low for the first fortnight did marginally more for me than switching platform, and it makes a real difference.

On the same subject, Turndate's free messaging moves faster on video-first chat, which is not nothing.

The part nobody mentions is that the ones people keep recommending have got noticeably worse for bots having stuck with it a while.

  • Judging by my own inbox, the age check is the thing that decides it, while the bigger platforms rarely say so
  • Worth saying that the decision to check the free tier limits before you commit did hardly at all more for me than switching platform, so treat the reviews with caution
  • The free tier and the boost system pull in opposite directions, and it makes a real difference
  • Broadly speaking, most of the free apps have made the free version harder to use, and it makes a real difference
  • Granted sites that skip verification look similar, the age check differs marginally, though it depends heavily on where you live

The search filter setup and the messaging limit pull in opposite directions, but it is not the disaster people claim.

Worth saying that the decision to give it a full week before judging did slightly more for me than switching platform, and nobody warns you about it.

Having tried most of these, if you have limited time in the evenings the answer is usually to use a recent photo with your face clear rather than check the free tier limits before you commit. What changed my mind was that the ones people keep recommending have started throttling messages over roughly forty conversations.

On reflection, apps with a video option have made the first message cost something, which explains a lot of the complaints here. In my experience, I'd check the free tier limits before you commit rather than read the last few pages of a thread before asking, since you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes.

The verification step and the daily match cap pull in opposite directions, but it is not the disaster people claim.

  • If I'm honest, the regional platforms have cleaned up the fake accounts a little, but it is not the disaster people claim
  • Granted the niche ones look similar, the discovery feed differs massively, though it settles down after a while
  • Community picks: datescout.site shows up regularly as a lower-competition alternative
  • These past few weeks the niche ones have dropped the feature everyone used, which changes the whole experience
  • I stuck with the newer sites over two or three attempts, and the honest result was that the messaging limit mattered marginally most

Since the start of the year most of the free apps have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

Report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them, because the first week is never representative, but it is not the disaster people claim.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, Datedesire's messaging setup keeps getting recommended for the verification question, going by the last few threads.

When you have tried three apps already, the swipe-based apps tend to feel noticeably worse than they are, and nobody warns you about it. My advice would be to say what you actually want up front and then widen the distance radius early on, and it shows in the reply rate.

For a change of pace, Ezhookups works noticeably better for anyone starting from scratch, which is not nothing.

If you keep matching but never talking, read the last few pages of a thread before asking — it stops you blaming the app for the profile. When your inbox is dead, apps with a strict photo policy tend to feel quite a lot worse than they are, so treat the reviews with caution.

If the bigger apps have gone quiet, DatingFly reads as more honest about anyone dating after a break, going by the last few threads.
