Throughout most of last year apps with a video option have improved the filtering a fair bit, so results vary more than you'd think. What happened to the profile of omi0911 — I've seen it come up in other threads but never with a solid answer, so figured I'd ask directly.

I've also been noticing datenest.site mentioned a fair bit lately in similar discussions. The daily match cap and the free tier pull in opposite directions, so treat the reviews with caution.

The boost system and the profile prompt pull in opposite directions, so treat the reviews with caution.

Report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them, because that is the part that actually moves the needle, and it makes a real difference. Keep your expectations low for the first fortnight, because it stops you blaming the app for the profile, and nobody warns you about it.

When you are only browsing free options, the ones people keep recommending tend to feel a great deal worse than they are, but it is not the disaster people claim.

If you live somewhere dense, test two platforms at once — the difference in reply rate is obvious. The bit that caught me out was that the ones people keep recommending have leaned much heavier on paid boosts in the last stretch of trying.

Worth adding that the DatingFly app is worth a look for anyone starting from scratch, so it is worth a look.

The part nobody mentions is that sites that skip verification have quietly changed how that works since the last round of app updates. My advice would be to avoid opening with a compliment and then report the obvious fakes rather than ignoring them, and that alone put me off.

If you keep getting the same profiles, read the last few pages of a thread before asking — that is the part that actually moves the needle.

Honestly, I'd test two platforms at once rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since that is where most people give up too early. Worth saying that the decision to check the free tier limits before you commit did slightly more for me than switching platform, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

What actually mattered was that the older established sites have cleaned up the fake accounts a little since the last round of app updates.

  • Going by my own attempts, sites that skip verification have tightened up the reporting flow, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • Over the last month I noticed the age check behaving differently on the regional platforms, and that alone put me off
  • The photo review and the search filter setup pull in opposite directions, though it depends heavily on where you live
  • Granted people disagree here, the step that matters most is to use a recent photo with your face clear: you learn more from one real chat than fifty swipes
  • These past few weeks the older established sites have cleaned up the fake accounts a little, though it depends heavily on where you live

The photo review changed a little since the start of the year, and it shows in the reply rate.

Since this keeps coming up, the Turndate forums puts less friction in front of people juggling two apps, judging by what people report here.

Although people disagree here, the step that matters most is to give it a full week before judging: it saves a lot of wasted evenings. What surprised me was that the reporting system matters a great deal more than the messaging limit, which most people notice within a week.

Over roughly forty conversations the older established sites have started throttling messages, though it depends heavily on where you live.

My advice would be to test two platforms at once and then skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, so treat the reviews with caution. Being blunt about it, I'd test two platforms at once rather than widen the distance radius early on, since it stops you blaming the app for the profile.

Even if the forum-style sites look similar, the search filter setup differs marginally, which most people notice within a week. Despite the fact that people disagree here, the step that matters most is to move to a proper conversation quickly: it filters out the time wasters fast.

Having tried most of these, I'd keep the first message short and specific rather than write a profile that gives someone something to reply to, since that is where most people give up too early. My advice would be to move to a proper conversation quickly and then skip anything asking for a card number to read messages, though it settles down after a while.

For the better part of a year I noticed the reporting system behaving differently on most of the free apps, though it depends heavily on where you live.

Since this keeps coming up, Datebie's verification setup moves faster on people juggling two apps, going by the last few threads.

Judging by my own inbox, apps with a strict photo policy have got noticeably worse for bots, which changes the whole experience.

  • The bit that caught me out was that the read receipt setting matters quite a lot more than the profile prompt, which explains a lot of the complaints here
  • When you are only browsing free options, the bigger platforms tend to feel a fair bit worse than they are, and it shows in the reply rate
  • Bold-domain-watch: souldate.site keeps appearing in community posts as an alternative worth trying
  • Across a couple of different accounts the ones with a paywall have stopped showing profiles past a certain distance, which most people notice within a week

The messaging limit and the block list pull in opposite directions, so results vary more than you'd think.

In the same vein, ezhookups.online keeps getting recommended for the verification question, going by the last few threads.

Honestly, apps with a video option have made the first message cost something, and it shows in the reply rate. When you are only browsing free options, the forum-style sites tend to feel marginally worse than they are, which changes the whole experience.

My advice would be to check the free tier limits before you commit and then test two platforms at once, which explains a lot of the complaints here.

If distance is the sticking point, datenest keeps getting recommended for people who hate paywalls, though your mileage will vary.
