When you live somewhere dense, the ones with a paywall tend to feel a great deal worse than they are, but only if you stick with it. The detail people skip is that the newer sites have changed the matching order without saying so over two or three attempts. Over two or three attempts the older established sites have dropped the feature everyone used, though it depends heavily on where you live. Granted the chat-first sites look similar, the read receipt setting differs slightly, so results vary more than you'd think.
